The Power Of inFamous

Within a recently-released video, inFamous game developer studio Sucker Punch Productions details how the world of inFamous will be one of the most complex and expansive gaming landscapes ever seen, allowing players to use virtually of the city as a surface to climb, crawl, and jump from — and also, how this world couldn’t have been pulled off on any platform other than the Sony Playstation 3.

The video (located just after this paragaph) also details some more of the key elements of inFamous, such as how the developers settled on electricity as a main element behind Cole’s power. Electricity is a crucial part of gameplay and the protagonist’s surroundings, as there are numerous places from which to draw power, and countless other things that are conductive to it. Also detailed briefly is the outcome of the game’s Karma system on Cole’s electrical powers. It seems evil characters might be getting a bit more bang for their buck, if you catch my drift. Check out the video below!

If this is the first you have heard about Sucker Punch Productions’ inFamous, you owe it to yourself to check this game out. Sure to be one of the biggest Sony exclusives this year, inFamous is working to change the way players view action and freedom in video games.

Dude, seriously, get off Sony's nutsack already. I'm sure they're chafing. There's nothing the PS3 can do that's above and beyond the capabilities of the 360.

That being said, inFAMOUS is definitely a fantastic game, and I can't wait 'til I can play more than just the demo.

Should I assume you are talking to the developers in the video? Because that is more or less exactly what they say, if you watched it.

Of course I watched the video, but I'm mostly talking to you - you were the one who wrote the news post, am I wrong?

Of course the people who made the game are going to say that it "could only be done with the PS3". The game is only coming out on that console, so they're going to try and build that console up as much as they possibly can. It's marketing 101. The game is basically Assassin's Creed mixed with Star Wars: The Force Unleashed mixed with Grand Theft Auto IV… and I have a very hard time believing the 360 couldn't pull that off. Hardware-wise, from what I understand, the Cell processor doesn't give the PS3 that big of a leg up on its competition, despite what all the devs in this video say.

However, you're fully welcome to take their word over mine, as I've never developed a game for either of the systems. Just done absolutely too much reading. :D
