YouTuber BlobVanDam has had heads turning with his latest video, “Sonic & Knuckles 3D Mushroom Hill Zone.” After viewing the video, it’s easy to see why so many people are talking about it: it’s downright gorgeous. Regardless of the fact that the YouTube entry is just a fan video (sadly), it’s still a sight to look at, and it has even caught Sega’s eye. See the beautiful 2.5D Sonic as well as what Sega had to say about it below.

There really isn’t a game hero out there as intense as Isaac Clarke. Severing limbs is the guy’s primary pastime. He braved the horrors of the Ishimura, lost all of his crew, and lost his sanity, yet he’s still ready to go out and crack some skulls. In this newest Dead Space 2 video, Isaac expands his palette of badassery into something like a zero-gravity HALO jump. Check it out.

At first glance people might think Dead Nation is another run-of-the-mill zombie shoot-em-up game and completely dismiss it. But when they hear it’s from the same people who made Super Stardust HD, arguably one of the best PSN titles out there, and they’ll immediately gain interest. Dead Nation looks to take the same Super Stardust formula but bring it to a flat space and instead of having asteroids flying at you, you’ll have a ton of zombies to contend with. Today Sony released a new trailer for Dead Nation and some new screens that feature the hero fighting off a horde of baseball players who are infected with the virus.

Where EA has taken the darker path for the young wizard, WB sees Harry Potter and his friends returning to a simpler time when all they had to worry about was giant basilisks and shape-changing rats.  Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 returns players to the first four books of the series, before Voldemort was terrorizing the English countryside and J.K. Rowling was still considered a children’s author.  Oh, and they’re now made of Legos.  I got to play a portion of Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 at last week’s E3, and I couldn’t stop smiling the entire time.

The booth for TERA Online felt a little lonely, small and innocuous and off to the side of Harmonix’s giant hall. It was a simple four-walled structure with five computers all closely packed and a reception desk. One wall featured the trailer seen below, which caught the eye of more than a few passersby. The game is pretty, the trailer shows this and my own time with the game certainly didn’t refute the fact.  The real question is: Is there room for a self-proclaimed action-MMORPG in today’s saturated and dominated market?  En Masse Entertainment hopes there is, and I can certainly say after my own demo that it plays differently than any MMO I’ve had experience with.

Yes, I am an unabashed Harry Potter fan.  I love the series, but have yet to play any of the games for whatever reason.  I think the stigma of movie-game tie-ins is too hard to overcome.  With EA promising to make the newest in the Harry Potter games darker and more in-line with a third-person shooter, I decided to at the very least give the game a shot.  So it was that I found myself inside EA’s pavilion at E3 with a PS3 controller in my hand and a virtual wand in Harry’s.

While wandering aimlessly around Capcom’s lush inner sanctum at E3, my eye happened to fall on a cute, little wolf portrait nestled near the back, behind all the flashy Marvel vs Capcom 3 and Dead Rising 2 showcases. It was for ĹŚkamiden. It’s been a few years since I played the Wii version of ĹŚkami where the art style, the mechanics, the Japanese lore-infused story were all perfect to me in their separate ways.  I’m sure I’ll eventually return to the delicate lines and thrumming stringed music of Okami on the Wii, but thankfully now I’ll have a choice of playing it on a smaller screen when ĹŚkamiden hits North American shores.

Killzone 2 was one of those rare shooters that not only looked amazing but also offered great gameplay both online and off. For Killzone 3 Guerrilla Games isn’t holding anything back when it comes to the campaign and promises bigger battles, bigger levels, further immersion and of course 3D. At this year’s E3 I got a chance to get some hands on time with the Killzone 3 E3 demo, in 2D, and from my short time with it Killzone 3 is looking like it will easily surpass its predecessor.
