With all this bloody good talk about Bloody Good Time being released, today Ubisoft has released a cinematic for their insane FPS, starring none other than the man who’s responsible for this massacre, Director X. Take a look below to see the violent (but rather funny) cinematic for Ubisoft’s latest FPS, coming to XBLA and Steam.

image of Call of Duty Black Ops Multiplayer Modes Wager Match

Treyarch has revealed the multiplayer modes of the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops at a press event in Los Angeles last night. With Black Ops, it seems Treyarch is really stepping up its game to make up for the (arguable) failures and downsides of Modern Warfare 2 and to really prove itself as a AAA developer, because these multiplayer modes seem awesome. Read up on the multiplayer after the break.

Right now, I’m going to shamefully admit that I have not watched the Back to the Future movies. But if you have, you may excited to hear some more details on Telltale Games’ Back to the Future titles in development. As usual with Telltale’s games, these will be released in episodic form, although Telltale hasn’t mentioned what platforms they’ll hit. We can assume Windows, and probably Xbox Live and PlayStation Network as well (later if not at release).

Is morality a black and white issue? Senior Producer on The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, Tomasz Gop, clearly explains the game will not be heading down the conventional “good versus evil” path familiar to Mass Effect and will instead draw inspiration directly from award-winning Polish fantasy writer and short-story author of The Witcher, Andrzej Sapkowski; Geralt, the main character of The Witcher, operates on his own moral code in an ethically hazy universe or in “grey areas,” so to speak and Gop wants The Witcher 2 to closely resemble the novel in this regard. Also, The Witcher likes boobies.

Coming September 7th to the 360, PS3, and PC collectively is yet another DLC for Mass Effect 2 focusing on Asari Scientist Liara T’soni, her troublesome mission, and of course, her relationship with Commander Shepard. If the thousand-year-old Justicar in Mass Effect 2 named Samara left you just as sexually frustrated as I, you’ll still have a chance at woo-ing another blue chick from your past. The Lair of The Shadow Broker DLC will retail for $10.00 or 800 Microsoft Points. Don’t forget to check-out the trailer for the upcoming DLC.

Dead Rising 2 will be hitting US shelves on September 28th, but I recently dug through a bunch of goodies regarding its release and discovered a YouTuber’s gameplay video allotting us fifteen whole minutes worth of cutscenes from the beginning of DR2. The events taking place are a bit confusing, but we’re able to see protagonist Chuck Greene and his young daughter Katey. Apparently, they have a gruesome connection or memory of Dead Rising’s fictional town of Willamette, Colorado. A  humorous poster advertising an infection suppressing drug called “Zombrex” can be seen adoring the elevator, a medication Katey is supposedly taking after being bitten during her first run-in with the undead.

It’s not very often you see Japanese doujin games (indie games, basically) released in Western nations, and the bulk of those translated is mostly visual novels and eroge. It’s even rarer to see them in mainstream merchants, retail or downloadable. That changes with Recettear: An Item Shop’s Tale, a Japanese RPG by EasyGameStation that has been localized by Carpe Fulgur, a three-person team that grabbed the rights to this little title. On September 10th, Recettear will be available on GamersGate (DRM-free!), Steam, and Impulse for $19.99 (Steam is offering it for $2 off if you pre-purchase it).

The Tokyo Game Show is returning on September 16, and we can hope for some major announcements to be made at the event, or at least some awesome gameplay to be shown. Konami, Level-5, Sega, and Tecmo-Koei have announced their lineups for the show, although it isn’t known which are playable and which will be presented in video form. Some notable familiars are Metal Gear Solid: Rising from Konami and Sonic Colors from Sega, but you can check after the break for the full list.

It’s been a long, bumpy ride, but Sam and Max have finally reached the end of their latest journey.  We’ve battled evil space apes, petulant pharaohs, elder gods and their minions, even a misguidedly demonic dummy.  The final episode of this third season leaves us with our biggest challenge yet: saving the city from a giant, mutated, rampaging Max-beast, and most importantly, attempting to save Max himself.  Naturally, this will involve more crazy characters, a few pointed jokes, and plenty of zany puzzles.  But how does this finale measure up against previous episodes?  How does the season fare overall?  Is it worth taking the plunge at last (for those of you who’ve been holding out)?

Zombie RPG Officially Named

Posted by Alfonso "Fonzi" Arana on August 28th, 2010

As gamers, it’s a fact that we can’t get enough zombie action in our lives. After games like Resident Evil and Left 4 Dead, a zombie-based RPG was bound to be released. DoubleBear Productions, an indie company composed of veterans from Troika and Obisidan, decided to jump on the ZRPG ball. When DoubleBear announced their ZRPG project, the internet exploded. Now their project has a name, and that name is Dead State. Along with finally giving it a name, DoubleBear has decided to reveal some juicy details about their new zombie game.

Let’s pretend for a moment that you are a big budget game company.  Let’s also pretend that you have a historic and well-loved franchise. Now, imagine that you plan to make an MMO with said franchise name and universe.  You would think that you would then utilize all your resources, both financial and intellectual, to produce a product that people would play to the point at which time disappeared.  Makes sense, right?  Obviously, not everyone who plays games the likes of World of Warcraft have given up their families and jobs for the game, but the potential is there, and if anything, Blizzard wants to encourage its players to devote as much time as possible to the world of Azeroth.

Apparently, Square-Enix has decided they want to do things differently.  How, do you ask?  Well, perhaps by making their player base tired of their game before it has even been fully released.  That’s right, I’m talking about the fatigue system.

Although Deus Ex: Invisible War was a great game on its own, there was something special about its predecessor — something revolutionary. The first play-through of Deus Ex was just something incredible — a whole new experience– and the game was ahead of its time. We know this, and so does Deus Ex: Human Revolution’s game director Jean-Francois Dugas. According to Dugas, he is trying his best to make sure that Human Revolution brings gamers the same feeling that the original Deus Ex brought us 10 years ago. Hear what Dugas had to say about Dues Ex: Human Revolution, and see the latest gameplay trailer below!

Not everyone made the choice at the end of Dragon Age that would allow this DLC to exist, but if you didn’t, you missed out on one of the most interesting choices in Dragon Age: Origins.  Morrigan, a definite fan-favorite character, leaves the protagonist with a cliffhanger of an ending if you choose one way, and it is the next, and potentially final, DLC of the game that will answer this monument of a question: Where did she go?

Final Fantasy XI is a sly thief; I happen to have misplaced a Summer or three I’ll never get back. I quit XI several years ago because it felt like a decent MMO, but too quick to lose it’s luster in the fun department as time progressed and I’ve slowly migrated from World of Warcraft, as well. If you’re like me, you probably enjoy keeping up-to-date on MMOs regardless and likely didn’t get a chance to take part in the closed-beta for the approaching Final Fantasy XIV. Keep your subligar on, because Square-Enix recently “tweeted” that early September will mark the beginning of open-beta on PC, with closed-beta coming to an end tomorrow.
