Stream Runs out of Activation Keys for Risen

How embarrassing for Steam! Due to a recent sale for Risen, which shaves off 50% of its market price, Steam had an unexpected surge of consumers, and ran out of activation keys. Instead of doing the wise thing and making the product temporarily unavailable until they resolved the issue, Steam continued to allow purchases to take place. Expectantly, this sparked a slew of outrage from purchasers, when they discovered that they couldn’t activate the game they paid for as they were greeted by the dreaded “failed to contact key server” message.

So for those that have purchased the product, the Senior Brand Manager, Daniel, begs you for patience until they resolve this issue (expected today). Hopefully they’ll quickly fix the problem and have the activation keys for you on the same day.

For those that haven’t purchased Risen, you may want to wait until they’ve fixed this issue. The game is on sale right now for the low price of $14.99. Risen is an RPG initially released back in October 2009 that allows you to alter the destiny of the island you’re in based on the actions you take. If that sounds strangely familiar to you, and you like it, then you won’t be too surprised when I tell you that the game follows in the same vein as Fallout or Dragon Age. With over 60 hours of open world gameplay that allows you discover different creatures and take different paths, whether it be becoming a mage or a swordsman, etc., you’re sure to find something to strike your fancy. The best thing about the game, and one that attracts me personally, other than the current low price, are the specs: it only requires 2GHz Processor and 1GB of RAM.
