Jon Shafer, Dave Stern hired by Stardock Entertainment

Recently we all learned about the departure of Firaxis’ Civilization V lead designer and principal programmer, Jon Shafer. What comes after a nearly six year long relationship with Firaxis was a bit of a surprise. Now we heard something even more surprising.

It had not taken too long for Shafer to find employment in the form of Stardock Entertainment. In fact, it seems that the company and lead designer had been discussing the move prior to his departure from Firaxis. Even better is that they are not wasting time putting his skills to work as he is working on Elemental: War of Magic, a turn-based strategy game.

In other news of hired help, it should be noted that Stardock has also snagged sci-fi scribe Dave Stern. Stern’s fictional works include a Elemental: War of Drive lore book and Tomb Raider game series’ localizations.
