Two Armed Men Raid a GameStop In Maryland for Call of Duty: Black Ops

Saturday evening, two armed men attacked a Gamestop in the Bel Air shopping center in Harford County, Md. As the store was closing, “The men, armed with semi-automatic guns, stole four cases full of Black Ops as well as cash and game systems.” Although two people entered the store during the robbery, neither they nor the employees were injured. This was actually a second robbery in the area of a Gamestop within 3 weeks.

The games were being held for their release Tuesday. Local police forces are on the lookout for any early sales on the game and have asked locals to notify the department if offered the game early.

Just out of curiosity what are they going to do with the stolen games?

I’m sure from the manufacturer they can track which the case numbers the store received and thus what serial numbers were taken. If they are selling them on craigslist in the area it would be pretty easy to bust them, but if they sell them outside Maryland it’s probably impossible to catch them.

I have no idea how many games/case, but even if it’s just 50, they can easily sell those at $45 each for a quick $9,000, not to mention how ever many systems they stole and whatever cash they got. Not a bad take for a few minutes work.

I guess they’ll just wait for the game to be released then sell at a cheaper price.
