You may recall when Lily Allen sang her hit song “Smile” for the Sims 2 trailer a while back in Simlish, the language of the Sims. It seems as though the idea of incorporating real life songs into the Sims in their own fictional language really took off, and according to EA we’ll be hearing a lot more recognizable songs in the new The Sims 3 expansion pack, Ambitions.

Robi Kauker, Audio Director for The Sims Studio at EA stated:

“Each time we set out to create a soundtrack for an expansion pack, it’s always exciting matching the vibe of the game to the music by our incredible lineup of extremely diverse artists. It’s fun hearing hit tracks in the language of The Sims, and I think fans will be pleased to find their favorites songs and artists throughout this game, and will no doubt discover new bands to follow in The Sims 3 Ambitions.”

If you’ve been following The Sims 3 Ambitions much, you probably already got to check out the trailer featuring Rise Against’s song, Savior. That song will be present in the expansion, along with the following:

Ambitions will be the second expansion for The Sims 3, where you’ll be able to take your Sim to work! Your Sims will be able to partake in some pretty exciting careers, from using another Sim’s body as canvas as a tattoo artist to tracking down ghosts a la Ghost Hunters style. In the past, you were able to give your Sim a career but never able to go to work with them. What did they do all day when they entered that building downtown? With Ambitions this will no longer be a mystery, since you’ll be able to be right there with them and control their work day.

The game ships on June 1st, and will be available on both PC and Mac. In late 2010, EA Mobile plans on having Ambitions available to the iPod touch and iPhone. The EA Store is now taking pre-orders for the expansion and is priced at $39.95. The pre-order is limited to PC only, and is for digital download. The pre-orders go on from now until the 24th, so don’t wait too long if you were planning on snagging your copy digitally.

I know this sounds really, really girly of me… but I really hope that there will be a hair stylist career. The tattoo artist is probably one of the first I’ll be trying out since I love tattoos, but the hair stylist career would rock my world. Even if it came in later as downloadable content, I would be all over that.
