Guitar Hero 5 Features Song Challenges
Posted by IcyStorm on July 22nd, 2009
To keep its owners entertained for even longer, Guitar Hero 5 will offer song challenges for each track, which are additional goals that when achieved, will unlock new items like clothes and instruments. Each challenge will have gold, platinum, and diamond levels so that gamers will be inclined to keep playing to get more and more. This system completely replaces the cash system of previous Guitar Hero titles. Beating the different tiers of challenges will also add more stars to your score on songs.
The challenge system extends to online play as well, and Activision and Neversoft will be getting actual sponsors for some of these “open gig” challenges. The offline challenges will be geared toward more specific, song-oriented challenges like hitting each open note as a bassist while playing Thrice’s “Deadbolt,” but these online challenges will be more like the Rock Band 2 “Battle of the Bands” challenges, such as maintaining a 4x multiplier for as long as possible.
It’s good to see Neversoft trying to bring more to the genre than just new music, because after five generations of Guitar Hero titles, gamers are probably looking for more. Check Destructoid for a list of more examples of these newly added challenges.
