chocoboIf you previously participated in the Register - Tweet - Win contest put on by Microsoft in support of the upcoming mammoth RPG release Final Fantasy XIII, then rejoice! Your incessant retweeting efforts have not all been for naught, unlike most retweeting contests. No, you all worked hard to ensure that gamers can unlock an adorable chocobo avatar accessory for use with your Xbox 360 avatar. Now you can appear alongside one of the most iconic setpieces of the Final Fantasy universe, barring moogles, of course.

Didn’t partake in the massive retweeting party? Not to worry. You can mooch off of everyone else’s hard work by hustling on over to the Final Fantasy XIII page at Xbox.com and register to receive a redemption code in December. Come on, avatar item decriers — this one’s on Microsoft!

I’m kind of concerned, though. Chocobos are not mere baby ducklings. No, they’re much more. How else could they outrun Zoloms?

It has been announced that Xbox Live members can now sign up for the new Update Preview program that will bring such features as Twitter and Facebook. As in the last XBL dashboard beta, the Xbox team reminds us that “We’re looking for multiple thousands of participants, so your chances of making it in are good.” However, just signing up does not guarantee a spot in the preview. Though the beta comes as no surprise, some are wondering why the Last.fm feature was not mentioned in the press release. While we speculate as to the fate of Last.fm on Xbox Live, make sure to sign up for the preview at http://connect.microsoft.com/XboxLIVEUpdate.
