An update was posted today on the Black Ops forums stating that the latest patch will go live for the PS3 at 2AM PST on 12/14. Patch 1.04 cleared Sony testing and will go live early Tuesday morning. The community manager for Treyarch posted on the forums saying the update would go live 2am on 12/13 but a few gamers have already reported that this is a typo, and the update did not go live today. Still no word on the 360 or PC release date but I assume they will be released sometime this week. Click here for patch details.

Black Ops Gets Updates Thumbnail

Black Ops Gets Updates

Black Ops released Tuesday to massive success, raking in over $360 million on the first day, breaking Modern Warfare 2's record. However, the online game modes seemed to suffer from a few technical problems, including lagging, an infinite care package glitch, and poor connectivity. Treyarch, in support of their game, have announced that they are releasing multiple patches to fix these issues. They have also stated that they will be working on other problems besides server issues, such as spawn point locations.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Violence Toned Down

Apparently, our modern day technology has advanced to the point that animation can appear as realistic as we want it to be. This can be said for Call of Duty: Black Ops. Treyarch's seventh installment of the series has changed the way they do facial animation, but it has gotten to the point where it appeared too real. As animation director, Dominique Drozdz, puts it, "It was a contextual kill wh

Call of Duty: Black Ops to Lack Co-op Campaign

As with the past Call of Duty titles, Black Ops will not feature a co-op campaign mode. Call of Duty: Black Ops Reveal Trailer Thumbnail

Call of Duty: Black Ops Reveal Trailer

There has been very little information about Call of Duty: Black Ops but there has been a few trailers and the newest one reveals quite a bit of gameplay. What can you expect from Treyarch’s upcoming shooter? It seems like you’ll be following a group of elite solders on off the record missions, there will be tons of explosions, a Torque Bow, a lot of helicopters, snow levels, overly dramatic scenes and space travel. Though they haven’t come out and said where the locations of Black Ops will take place, a UK website has posted details saying "From Cuba to the Arctic and the jungles of Vietnam” all of these locations seem to be featured in the trailer. It looks promising, definitely can’t be worse than the Modern Warfare 2 campaign that’s for sure. Check out the new trailer.

Review: Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack #3

Treyarch definitely knows how to keep their fans happy. Though they have dealt with a very lukewarm reception to Call of Duty: World at War overall, they have done a spectacular job keeping their fans interested and involved by releasing three map packs to augment the game to date. We've covered every single one of them here at Spawn Kill, and now the third map pack review has rolled around. It can easily be summed up in one word: fantastic. This might just be the best map pack yet out of the three, mainly because of the phenomenal improvements made to the Nazi Zombie map in this go-around. In all, it's a fiendishly fun addition to your map pack collection that you'll want to fire up again and again. Just make sure to keep bathing. (more...)
