Activision Files “Ripper” Trademark

If you’re anything like me, you spent countless hours in Ripper, that smarmy old FMV adventure that never seemed to want to run as smoothly as it could have. Well, Activision knows. You see them giving me those knowing looks? Right? Okay, maybe not — maybe they’re ready to take the hint from Take-Two and go on a little Ripper adventure of their own, having filed two trademarks for “The Ripper,” both for use in “computer games” or “other entertainment services.” Joystiq speculates that it could be a hint at a new project from Visceral Games, which would be quite the welcome surprise. Of course, I’m sure that’s not what’s going on. As for me, I’d be content with an updated version of Ripper. Six CDs, full-motion video, and Jake — I’m sold.
What are your thoughts on these shenanigans? Ready for another Jack the Ripper game? Hoping it’s a Dead Space spinoff starring everyone’s favorite weapon? Sound off!
