Dead Space 2: Isaac Is No Longer a Silent Protagonist

It's already common knowledge that Visceral will be giving Isaac Clarke a voice in the upcoming survival-horror sequel, Dead Space 2. Regardless of this being the case, it's still nice to hear about how the activation of Isaac's voice-box will make for some much-appreciated character development. The last thing anyone wants is for Isaac to become a trash-talking chatterbox. That doesn't seem to be the case, fortunately, according to Steve Papoutsis.

Alan Wake X10 Trailer + More

Perhaps, because it is a game about a mystery writer whose horrors come to life ala the pages of a Stephen King novel, it is only fitting that the game has long been shrouded in mystery. Today, a bit more of the curtain was pulled back, as a new trailer was revealed for X10, along with more details about the sweet special edition. The only downside? It's 360-exclusive, meaning those of you without one are either out of luck, or better put in your orders pretty darn quick to prevent yourselves from missing out on what could possibly be one of the best games of 2010. Review: Obscure: The Aftermath

As horror enthusiasts are probably aware, the Obscure franchise as a rule is approached with trepidation. And for good reason. It's not exactly the creme de la creme of the land of Pyramid Head and cursed tattoos. While the original game stood on its own as an intriguing thriller, its Wii sequel tended to disappoint, as migrations to the Wii tend to do. It stands on wobbly legs as a survival horror title, stumbling more than once as it struggles to be recognized as a viable spectacle of the macabre. Now that it's on the PSP, this is one port you may be wise to pass up, especially if you have a strong aversion to pitiful, Americanized attempts at college horror films. Because that's what Obscure: The Aftermath is trying to be, and that's a nightmare in itself. (more...)

The Calling Announced for Wii

Perhaps publishers are finally realizing there are serious, Wii-owning gamers out there tired of Barbie shovelware. Whatever the reason, horror fans have reason to love their little white box, as a slew of titles are hitting the system over the next few months. You may already be following Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, Cursed Mountain, and Ju-On: The Grudge, not to mention the various Resident Evil sequels and re-releases. Now, fear fans have another title to salivate over: The Calling. (more...)

Preview: Fragile: Farewell Ruins of the Moon

As a Wii owner, I often feel like that lonely kid on the playground at recess, desperately waiting my turn to be picked for dodge ball, only to be passed over again, and again, leaving me disappointed and neglected on the bench. Any remotely "serious" gamer who owns a Wii console has likely felt this way at least once: a new game is announced, but Wii is sadly left by the wayside. Or, worse, a title is released in Japan, but never for the North American market. Instead, we are left with a plethora of titles aimed at children or people who know little about games and can be easily duped into purchasing an inferior product. In a word, the Wii software market is flooded with "shovelware" as developers jump to cash in on the booming Wii audience. However, thankfully, this year's E3 revealed many quality titles that gamers of all levels can appreciate. While Nintendo's press conference may have left a lot to be desired in many ways, I know I came away from the expo's revelations with a long list of games to look forward to over the next months. What are some of the games I'm extremely excited about? (more...)
