Following last year’s innovative puzzler, Super Scribblenauts is a sequel with adjectives in the mix and a greatly improved control scheme that should fix the major problems in last year’s Scribblenauts. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has released a new trailer for Gamescom ‘10, and it highlights some of the new features. Too bad some of the more interesting adjectives will probably not be in the game… you know, to be safe for the children. Anyway, check out the trailer after the jump to find out you can do “fire breathing alien” and “powerful cheetah” instead of just “alien” or “cheetah.”

Holiday Gift Guide for the Casual Gamer

Posted by Spawn Kill on December 19th, 2009

If you are a hardcore gamer, sometimes it can be difficult to get the insight on what’s good in the neighborhood of casual games because we tend to cross them off our list for our own holiday lists. But we all have friends and family we’d love to get into gaming, or those who simply enjoy it on a casual level. Tigresa and Cuatro Chihuahuas bring you the best of both worlds, without Miley Cyrus unfortunately, and have put together a great guide of gifts to nab for those casual gamers in your life.

Review: Scribblenauts

Posted by Jason "IcyStorm" Joo on September 28th, 2009

5th Cell had a lot of expectations to meet, a lot of hopes and dreams to fulfill in the hearts of gamers everywhere. With an incredible amount of buzz surrounding this little DS title at E3, including the famous NeoGAF post by Feep describing using a dinosaur to defeat robot zombies, Scribblenauts has been described as creative, ingenious, and inspiring. Of course, with this much hype comes the possibility of disappointment. In the end, is Scribblenauts what we all had expected? For the most part, yes. Is it what we wanted? Not exactly. Scribblenauts, although having an excellent concept and providing lots of fun, suffers from frustrating control issues that often detract from the experience and well, the fun.

Unfortunately, you read the headline of this post correctly. If you have the presence of mind to pre-order Scribblenauts, then you’ll receive this mind-numbingly useless rooster hat. Instead of something…you know, useful? At the very least the Klonoa hat is wearable.

In any case, if you head on down to EB Games or GameStop in either the United States or Canada, this goofy-looking piece of memorabilia can indeed be yours. Rejoice now and tremble with joy. You know what I’m getting when I preorder The Beatles: Rock Band? I can’t decide which offer yet, but I can guarantee I will get more use out of either pre-order deal I choose.

Scribblenauts is shaping up to be some kind of awesome. If you haven’t been following 5th Cell’s exploits up until super-important gaming jernalizts told you to care about this game, then go purchase Drawn to Life and Lock’s Quest right now. We’ll wait.

5TH Cell’s imaginative puzzle game for the Nintendo DS finally has an official release date of September 15, 2009, as revealed by Warner Bros. at San Diego Comic-Con. So there’s a little less than two months until we get to have God battle the Kraken, attach lasers to sharks, and… push a whale into the sea with a bulldozer.
