Holiday Gift Guide for Casual Gamers

Casual gamers seem to always be the hardest people to shop for, especially from a hardcore gamer's perspective. They don’t like certain genres, they don’t spend all day playing games, and they often can’t handle games with complicated controls. While many of them would love to get an iTunes Store card to pay for their iPhone games, I’ve come up with a list of titles and accessories perfect for the casual gamers on your shopping list.

Review: NBA Jam

Although the days of going to the arcade to play your favorite video games is nigh over, many developers have been trying to bring back classic arcade titles through XBLA/PSN and through full-fledged remakes. However, not too many of them turn out they way they would hope; some arcade titles just don’t stand up to the test of time. Thankfully EA Sports knew what it was going to take to bring the classic NBA Jam franchise back. They more or less just gave us the same game, which is most definitely not a bad thing at all because the original formula was amazing. The biggest problem facing NBA Jam’s return was if this game can offer enough lasting appeal that sports fans have come accustomed to in recent years.

NBA Elite Delayed; NBA JAM to be Released as a Standalone Product

It’s only been a week since the NBA Elite 11 demo went live and now EA Sports’ president Peter Moore released a statement today announcing the delay of the upcoming basketball game. Feedback from the community in regards to the demo and also realizing that they are on an upswing from last year’s title were among the reasons EA decided to delay the game. Having played the demo many times, I’ve seen some issues that the final version could have but I’ve also seen a lot of promise the franchise has. This is why I’m actually glad they are going to delay it.

E3 ’10: NBA Jam Updated Impressions

When I first saw NBA Jam on the Wii back in March I was immediately blown away by how the team at EA Vancouver was able to capture the old school gameplay and still make it feel new. At this year's E3 I got a chance to play an updated version of the game, and although there didn't seem to be a huge difference between this build and the build I played earlier in the year, I did notice the motion controls are more accurate. Plus, they introduced a few legendary players into the mix. After playing the updated build I can say for sure that NBA Jam is going to be a big hit with fans of the franchise and newcomers as well.

NBA Jam Hands-On Preview

When EA announced that they were bringing back NBA Jam and only on the Wii, like everyone else I was a little skeptical. I was afraid they would try to take the license and create something new that deviated from the classic gameplay. Thankfully as the development team said themselves “if we couldn’t create a game that had the same feeling as the classic NBA Jam, then we wouldn’t have made i
