Just yesterday, Hideo Kojima came strolling along the streets of SOHO, New York City in Metal Gear REX touting his Big Boss shirt to celebrate the recent release of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (June 8th) for American fans. Well, maybe they couldn’t fit REX in Koji-san’s helicopter, but he definitely had a nice entourage of bodyguards for any “just in case” crazy New York fan moments. We understand, Kojima.

UNIQLO, Japan’s leading fashion retailers has a flagship location here in the SoHo area of New York City and is teaming up with Konami in light of the upcoming launch of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker in North America next month. Hideo Kojima himself will be present at the Uniqlo in Manhattan in support of the launch of a special limited edition line of 10 MGS-branded shirts being sold at that location on June 11, 2025 (as will I!) from 12:00PM - 2:00PM EST, which will also be available for purchase online and in all other UNIQLO locations in the U.S.

Famed gaming session non-alcoholic beverage of choice Mountain Dew will be releasing their newest line of game fuel. We’ve collected our Halo 3 bottles and cans and we’ve put down the Horde in favor of the Alliance, and now it’s Snake and Co.’s turn to Do the Dew to promote Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker’s upcoming release in Japan.

It’s literally killing me that this is a Japan-only promotion. The cans… So collectible… I guess I should be happy that it’s not in the U.S. — I don’t know if I really need another (yes, another…) eight cans of empty soda on my desk.

Sony announced today via the PlayStation Blog that Metal Gear Solid fans here in the U.S can look forward to a Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker PSP bundle. The pack will include a “Spirited Green” PSP-3000 system, the game on UMD, a voucher for in-game content, a PSN downloadable movie voucher and a 2GB Memory Stick Pro Duo. The highly anticipated Metal Gear PSP title picks up where MGS 3 left off and “marks the return of Hideo Kojima’s world-renowned stealth-action series.” Not sure why Sony wouldn’t be trying to push the PSPgo especially with a big title like this but maybe it’s because you can get all of this stuff for $50 less than a PSPgo. The entertainment pack will sell for $199.99 and will coincide the release date of the standalone game on June 8.

49969_origSometimes I go to bed thinking about Big Boss. I know I shouldn’t, but the man haunts me. He is so much machismo. So much manly dominance. He is testosterone. Thus you can imagine my delight seeing the Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker demo heading to the PSN this week. It boasts the four missions seen at E3, is in English, and is ready right now.

For those unfamiliar, Peace Walker is the follow up to Portable Ops, the first venture on to the PSP for the venerable series. It stars arguably the baddest of the snakes, Naked, and has been called Kojima’s baby and a true sequel (to possibly my favorite installment).

I just wish The Boss were here to witness this. I miss her so. /salute

Download it here and copy the NPUH90066 folder to GAME folder on your PSP’s memory stick. Happe Snaking!
