“Lucidity”, Now Flavored With PC!

Posted by Snarkasaur on September 14th, 2009

I often lament my status as a non-Xbox 360 owner simply because if there’s one thing Microsoft’s beast does well, it’s downloadable games. All other platforms combined don’t retain the quality and breadth of Live’s Arcade. The PC might come close, however, and it will now become even closer with today’s news that LucasArts’ newest indie production Lucidity will be hitting the PC as well as Xbox Live. This gamer couldn’t be happier!

We’ve also been privvy to a simply fantastic video showcasing some more gameplay and a bit of a cutscene as well. Hit the jump to check it out.

title2

I’ll be honest with you: I love Adventure games, and the fact that we’ve had a recent resurgence of them, whether they’re updates of old games or new franchises, makes me one very happy gamer. If you read my review of the first chapter of Tales of Monkey Island you’ll know that I had very little to complain about. But for those of you still on the fence about this series from TellTale, or for those who may be purchasing the game on an episode-by-episode business, read on to see what I thought about the second chapter: The Siege of Spinner Cay.

Nintendo and LucasArts seem to be on good terms. Today they announced that Super Star Wars and its two sequels will be released on the Wii’s Virtual Console. The original title, Super Star Wars is available for purchase and download today while the other two games, Super Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Super Star Wars: Return of the Jedi will arrive on the Wii Shop Channel later this year along with other, unknown LucasArts titles.

The Wii’s other features are seeing a bit of Star Wars action as well, with a Check Mii Out Channel contest for the best Star Wars characters and Star Wars-related polls on the Everybody Votes Channel. I just hope all of this means there is a (good) Star Wars lightsaber title in development for the Wii.

Even the most diehard point-and-click adventure fans will admit the heyday of adventure gaming seem to belong past. Still, these games seem to be making a comeback lately, with venues like Nintendo’s DS and Wii opening the door for both ports and new games alike. Particularly making waves recently (sorry for the awful pun), was LucasArts’ recent revelation of Monkey Island: Special Edition, an updated version of the classic, being released July 15 on PC and XBLA. Following on its coattails (or should I say, proceeding it?) on July 7 was Telltale Games’ first installment of the new game Tales of Monkey Island, the first truly new game in the Monkey Island franchise in years.

ALT+F4: Cars, Guns, and LucasArts

Posted by Future Man on July 6th, 2009

Neotokyo - LogoAnother Monday mercilessly lands directly on top of me, luckily, it brings some interesting stuff with it. Codemasters is going to be holding off the PC release of DiRT 2, to add DX11 support. The Half-Life 2 modification NEOTOKYO° released over the weekend and turned out incredibly awesome, it’s about as much as you can hope for when you’re paying an entry fee of $0. The most impressive piece of news so far, today, is that Lucasarts is bringing over a large amount of their games to Steam in waves.

Check it all out, after the jump.

tgpThose of you who know me know that I am a point-and-click Adventure junkie. I have been salivating recently over the announcements that LucasArts is re-doing The Secret of Monkey Island for XBox 360 and PC, and that TellTale Games is doing a new episodic game, Tales of Monkey Island, both coming this summer. Those of you who are like me know that it can be hard now-a-days to find a quality Adventure game, and even harder to find one that’s in the true spirit of the traditional LucasArts games. In other words, one that has a sense of humor.

Well, the good news is that two guys over at Zombie Cow Studios have created two hilarious point-and-click adventure games that will have you laughing all the way through, especially if you are fans of the genre. Their first game, Ben There, Dan That, is completely free. Although it’s short, I highly recommend it - especially because, well, it’s FREE. Besides, I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard playing a game before. Zoom over to their website now and give it a download.
