PS3 Move: Dance Dance Revolution Preview at Konami Gamers Day in NYC

I've been a DDR player for around 8 or 9 years now. I'm not one of those professional plays-on-two-arcade-machines-at-once kind of gals, but I'm certainly decent. If you've read my E3 hands-and-feet-on preview of the Wii version of the upcoming DDR game - you know my dilemma with how the series has changed over time. It's gone from a tracklist of Eurobeat, hardcore, and Japanese-inspired songs to Britney Spears and Sean Paul songs slowly but surely. That's when I left the scene... And waited ever so patiently for a return of the music that devoted DanceDanceRevolution players have been waiting for on current-gen consoles and arcades. We're tired of tap dancing around on the PS2 if we want good music! Luckily I had a chance to try out the upcoming PS3 version of DDR at a Konami preview event in NYC this week which also utilizes the PlayStation Move hardware.

Review: Castlevania: Harmony of Despair

Castlevania: Harmony of Despair is a game completely geared towards the Castlevania fan. Everything from the combat, to the enemies you face, and even the setting should be instantly familiar to those who have played other Castlevania games. Adding to this idea is the lack of information given to you on how to play the game. Those who aren’t familiar with the franchise should proceed with caution. With that said, this title gives the loyal fans a new way to experience the franchise with excellent online co-op and a strangely addicting grinding system.

Yesterday Konami Digital Entertainment announced that Castlevania Puzzle: Encore of the Night will be available for the iPod touch and iPhone, and apparently this is a whole new type of Castlevania --a puzzle RPG. Encore of the Night will be the first puzzle RPG to graze the Castlevania franchise.

E3 ’10: Hands and Feet-On with Dance Dance Revolution

As a long-time fan of the Eurobeat-styled Dance Dance Revolution franchise, I've been skeptical and unhappy with the recent years' bombardment of Britney Spears and Sean Paul-style music that the older style has been slowly replaced by. Never having experienced motion controls before added to the DDR mix, I took a shot at the charming DJ Naoki song called "Let's Get Away" to see if the franchise can be redeemed for the fans who prefer the Eurobeat jams from the not-so-recent releases.

E3 ’10: Hands-On with Castlevania: Harmony of Despair

While waiting in line to play Limbo, the Xbox Live game based around what I can only assume is repeated suicide, I happened to see a new downloadable Castlevania game out of the corner of my eye. As there was a free station and I hate waiting in lines, I quickly changed my position and dove into the game for a good bit of time. Not only was I pleasantly surprised, but despite not even getting the full measure of the game during my time, I’m nearly dead-set on a day one purchase. The game is Castlevania: Harmony of Despair, is an Xbox Live only downloadable title, and features an eclectic mix of classic platforming and co-op puzzle action.

E3 ’10: Hands On with Castlevania: Lords of Shadow

Konami's booth had a variety of games to show off, and even a rapper or two to entertain the masses, but for me the center of that stage was the playable Castlevania: Lords of Shadow demo. Lords of Shadow represents the first next-generation foray for the venerable series, and as such, has quite a load of responsibility to bear. Fans have been unhappy with previous 3D installations, and even yet balk at any attempts to move a side-scrolling adventure in to the realm of rotating cameras.

This 'sample' of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is aligned to show off the capacity for stealth using 3D-capable systems.
