Last week we covered two multiplayer modes that can be found in Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days. Though the Fragile Alliance and Arcade modes provide plenty of entertainment, it does lack some of the competitive action players get from playing online. That’s where the other modes: Undercover Cop and Cops and Robbers comes into play. In Undercover Cop one player will be picked at random to be an undercover agent trying to stop the robbers from making out with the cash. In Cops and Robbers players will fight each other with one team trying to escape with the cash and the other trying to prevent the escape. Undercover Cop has its great moments but it also has its issues. Cops and Robbers on the other hand has the chance to be the best multiplayer mode in the entire game.

When it comes to multiplayer modes in the world of shooters there are the games that follow the same formula and then there are the games that offer something different. The multiplayer featured in Kane & Lynch 2 isn’t your standard Deathmatch/Team Deathmatch modes, and there isn’t even a capture the flag mode. Kane & Lynch: Dead Men was released in 2007 and was met with poor reviews. Everyone did agree on a couple of things though: the controls were clunky and the characters Kane and Lynch were bad asses. Parts of the game were enjoyable while others were simply frustrating. The characters, on the other hand, were always entertaining. Think of them as The Odd Couple with guns, only more profane and violent. In Dead Men, players were introduced to Kane’s history. In Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days, set to release this summer, players will be introduced to Lynch’s world, a grittier, more violent place where plans quickly turn south. I recently got a chance to play a couple of chapters of the single player campaign, and I think gamers will like the improvements made by Io Interactive.

Dog Days is the sequel to 2007’s Kane and Lynch: Dead Men, a third-person shooter known mainly for its namesake protagonists and gritty locations, plot, and gameplay elements. The newest iteration of the series sees the duo taking care of business around Shanghai, and reflects the game director’s heavy film-based influences.
