Every Kratos Kill Ever: God of War III
God of War III marks the end of the Kratos myth. He gets a prequel with God of War: Ghost of Sparta, which will be next in the lineup of editorials featuring all of Kratos' kills, but God of War III is his true end. There's certainly speculation about another installment, and people coming back from the dead in Greek mythology is hardly unheard of, but as per right now, it's over. We shouldn't plan to see our Spartan warrior again, but neither should we be surprised if we do. God of War III also features the single longest list of kills of any of the games, as well as the most impressive as Kratos tackles the entire Pantheon, killing the top three gods and all their cronies. And as with every other game, he starts off the butchery with a big bang.

When I play God of War III, I feel like I could walk outside and punch a building. I feel like I could please any woman, travel any distance, hurdle any obstacle. Stepping into the sandals of Kratos, the ex-God of War and revenge seeking psychopath of this trilogy, is placing oneself into the role of possibly the greatest action hero in entertainment history.

When it comes to God of War, despite being similar in real life to anti-hero Kratos, I'm fairly inexperienced. I played through the first game only a year or so ago, and enjoyed the pants off it. The series is known for gore, mythology references, and some of the best action you'll find in video games. The first game certainly wasn't without its flaws, but most of them were overshadowed by the epic adventure, massive boss fights, and fatalities to make Mortal Kombat veterans blush. With the imminent release of God of War III in early 2010, I was happy enough to lay my hands on a copy of the demo showcased at E3 this year. Always late to the boat, I nonetheless wanted to give my own thoughts on what I played. (more...)

Looks like everyone's jumping on the overpriced special edition bandwagon these days. With Modern Warfare 2's Prestige Edition pre-sells doing so well, my guess is Sony thought it would be a great decision to create their own more expensive than the average collector's edition package for God of War III. To be honest, it seems like a very good decision on their part. There's so my hype around the God of War series that putting out the Ultimate Edition will surely be a hit. But are you getting your money's worth? The Ultimate Edition has a price set at $99.99. It boasts a 8.3" wide x 10.5" long x 5.9" tall "High-End Sculpted Replica of Pandora's Box." The rest of the contents are under the cut: (more...)

As if you didn’t have a good enough reason to pick up the upcoming God of War Collection, Sony announced today that the collection will include the E3 2009 demo of God of War III. If it’s the exact same demo from E3 then gamers will be extremely excited because at E3 the demo was at least 30 full minutes long. That would be an amazing demo and certainly something to hold you over until the March 2010 release date. Each copy of the God of War Collection will include a voucher that will be redeemed via the Playstation Network. (more...)

God of War first rammed it's way onto our PS2 home console in 2005. Since then the game has been the topic of appraisal, controversy, and other unmentionables. Next year we will see the supposed final installment in the epic mythological trilogy. The games lead character, Kratos, did not cease to amaze and, in a way, inspired us throughout both the first God of War and its sequel released over the past few years. With his arrogant charm, pale skin, and scared torso, Kratos ventured his way into the hearts of anyone who played the game. The game also spawned many other smaller installments like God of War: Chains of Olympus for the PSP and God of War: Betrayal for mobile phones. The plot of Chains of Olympus was set as a prequel to the first God of War and Betrayal was used to bridge the gap between the first and second installments. (more...)
