Every Kratos Kill Ever: Ghost of Sparta
Ghost of Sparta marks the second outing of Kratos on the small screen, and despite its miniature status, it packs a wallop in terms of sheer quality, both in gameplay and storytelling. Timeline-wise, it's set between the first God of War and God of War II. Ares is dead, and Kratos is out looking for answers. His dreams haunt him, telling him he needs to find his long-lost brother Deimos. To do this, he returns to areas from his past, finding (and killing!) his mother and even brashly striding through the streets of Sparta as the new god of war. Spoilers, be warned!

GOTY 2010: Stephanie’s Top 5 Picks
Since we don't all play the same games here at Spawn Kill, voting for a unified winner just won't work out and do justice to our favorite games. So a few of us decided to share out Top 5 (and a specialty pick) this week before we're deafened by 2011's sex machine cranking sounds of amazing games to come (like L.A. Noire, clearly). One thing all of my Top 5 picks probably have in common is longevity (and most of them a damn good story) - I like to get my money's worth on top of my blissful pleasure. Most of these shining gems have lasted me hours and hours and hours of enjoyment. So here are my Top 5 Game of the Year picks for 2010.

Every Kratos Kill Ever: God of War III
God of War III marks the end of the Kratos myth. He gets a prequel with God of War: Ghost of Sparta, which will be next in the lineup of editorials featuring all of Kratos' kills, but God of War III is his true end. There's certainly speculation about another installment, and people coming back from the dead in Greek mythology is hardly unheard of, but as per right now, it's over. We shouldn't plan to see our Spartan warrior again, but neither should we be surprised if we do. God of War III also features the single longest list of kills of any of the games, as well as the most impressive as Kratos tackles the entire Pantheon, killing the top three gods and all their cronies. And as with every other game, he starts off the butchery with a big bang.

Kratos Will Guest Star in Upcoming Mortal Kombat
Kratos and Mortal Kombat: they both complement each other quite well, don't they? So, it makes sense to include him in the upcoming Mortal Kombat, right? Latest reports coming from the Official PlaySation Magazine indicate this to be the case. The magazine states how Kratos will serve as an exclusive character for the PS3 version of next year's gore-fest. He won't be playable in the game's story mode though, but he will be freely available for any versus affairs.

Every Kratos Kill Ever: Chains of Olympus
Narratively, Chains of Olympus actually comes before God of War in the timeline of Kratos' universe. In terms of real world game releases, it comes third in our God of War series, and also makes the series' debut on the PSP. Though one of the earliest PSP games to hit the market, Chains of Olympus would be one of the top rated and most successful games on the platform, only surpassed in quality by its successor (Ghost of Sparta) and a few other choice picks. The crux of Chains of Olympus is that Kratos is a tool of the gods, particularly Ares himself, and when the Pantheon themselves are threatened, it is up to this mostly mortal man to fix their problems. He does so with his twin Blades of Chaos, and while his killing isn't nearly as rampant and bloody as in any other game in the series, this is technically his heroic debut, so we can forgive him a shorter death list.

Every Kratos Kill Ever: God of War 2
God of War 2 basically begins the war between Kratos and the rest of existence. You might say he started this war in the first game, but his motivations for killing Ares were fairly solid. His hatred of Zeus is something relatively fresh in the game, and isn't even fully explained until much later in the series. This beginning also heralds in a string of butchery far outpacing that of his initial journey, a serial killing that would only be rivaled by the holocaust that is God of War 3.

Every Kratos Kill Ever: God of War 1
Before the first God of War game was released, most people had a pretty clear idea of Greek mythology and the history of the ancient myths. Maybe we learned it from our first-year class in college, maybe we got all we needed to know watching Disney's Hercules or the lesbian adventure Xena: Warrior Princess. Regardless, the mythology seemed set in stone (and probably was in the case of many stories), and to go and change it on us this late in the game seems ridiculous. However, that's exactly what Santa Monica Studios did with the invention of Kratos, gaming's most beloved serial killer and the slayer of all we know about Greek mythology. With the release of God of War: Ghost of Sparta, I thought it might be handy as a quick reference guide to take a look back at the God of War series and remember just how much of Greek mythology Kratos has butchered.

Review: God of War: Ghost of Sparta
I think, in a way, the collective gaming community is just waiting for the developers of the God of War series to slip up. When the first PSP rendition was released a few years ago, it came from a new studio, and many thought, "Well this is probably it, take the reigns away from Santa Monica Studios and you'll definitely have a flop." Fortunately for fans, Ready at Dawn was already an established development studio with former members of both Blizzard and Naughty Dog, and not only did they churn out a stellar God of War game, but they crafted the highest rated PSP game of all time. At least, until now. Ghost of Sparta capitalizes on everything that made Chains of Olympus great, but tells a more epic story, looks even better than its predecessor, and adds nearly triple the amount of gameplay and collectibles. If these are the final days of the PSP, then God of War: Ghost of Sparta is the swansong to send this little system to the fields of Elysium where it can languor in decadence for all eternity.

God of War: Ghost of Sparta Demo Available Tomorrow
For all of you patiently waiting for the next addition to the God of War franchise, the PlayStation blog has revealed that tomorrow the God of War: Ghost of Sparta demo will be released on the PlayStation Store tomorrow as a part of the PlayStation Store Update. The demo was previously released only for PSN+ members, but tomorrow it will be available for everyone to download. With all the hype regarding this game, this isn't a demo you're going to want to miss!
