Dragon Quest IX Tag Event Starts This Weekend

So we don't live in Japan where everyone plays Dragon Quest, population density is huge, and public transportation is extremely common. Nor do we live in the land where having a bar where you can gather to play and exchange game items is not only normal, it's expected. As a result, many North American players have expected to miss out on the features of tag mode that helped make the game such a success in the land of the rising sun. Nintendo seems to have realized this, and so has organized a series of Dragon Quest IX events at local retailers and malls to spread the word about the game and give US players the chance to get some new treasure maps.

Hideo Kojima in NYC! - MGS Peace Walker Event Recap

Just yesterday, Hideo Kojima came strolling along the streets of SOHO, New York City in Metal Gear REX touting his Big Boss shirt to celebrate the recent release of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (June 8th) for American fans. Well, maybe they couldn't fit REX in Koji-san's helicopter, but he definitely had a nice entourage of bodyguards for any "just in case" crazy New York fan moments. We understand, Kojima. (more...)

1C Company Presents: Another Night in Moscow 2010

The 1C Company, leading as both the largest publisher and development team from Russia, held their annual U.S. press event this year at the Russian Consulate in San Francisco for their Another Night in Moscow 2010 event. Spawn Kill was not only present to report on the games for our readers, but has now officially been to Russia after setting foot in the Consulate! Greeted by an intense Russian security guard, we were then on Russian soil. The room was littered with a montage of Russian treats and vodka, beautiful women clad in Kill Bill uniforms and ushankas, and most importantly, a huge variety of games from all over the spectrum. There were racing games, World War II RTS games, you had your espionage and your blood-seeping, musket-wielding pirates were ever in our presence.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 NYC Launch Event Recap

This weekend Nintendo hosted a lovely launch party for the now released Super Mario Galaxy 2. Actually, Nintendo stuck it out all weekend for their fans and held two launch events: one on Friday for the media and high-ranked members of the Nintendo Club online, and another on Sunday again at the Nintendo World Store for fans (some of who I actually saw lining up on Friday when I was leaving the earlier event). When it comes to Mario fans, they are rampant, passionate, will come in droves, and live in every pocket of the world. Here's a little taste of what Nintendo had in store for the SMG2 fans of NYC!

Blizzcon 2010: VIVA, LAS VEGAS!

I wasn't expecting to hear about this until around March of next year, but apparently BlizzCon 2010 plans are already set... kind of. Today, WoW.com discovered that the Las Vegas Convention Center calendar lists BlizzCon as one of their events on July 30 and 31st of next year. Apparently, the convention center is confirming the dates, but Blizzard is telling fans to not book your vacations just yet because nothing is set in stone. This comes as quite a surprise to me because every past BlizzCon has been held in California's Anaheim Convention Cent
