Ten Commandments of Gaming: A Plea To Developers
As Gamers, we owe developers a lot: after all, without them, we'd have nothing to play. Likewise, developers (and producers) need us in order to survive: without our hard-earned cash, they'd be out of business. Despite all that they do get right, it's shocking how many things they get wrong. Many of the staples of current-generation gaming are obviously both flawed and outdated. In an effort to further the identification and prevention of such ghastly gaming conventions, Spawn Kill would like to present game developers (and the rest of the world) the Ten Commandments of Gaming.

Recently our very own Kevin Tucker wrote an article with seven well-thought out reasons why Final Fantasy VII should remain in the annals of history and never see a remake. While we may disagree on the idea of a remake, K-Tuck and I have long been of the agreement that Final Fantasy VI is the best of the series. It boasts the best characters, the most engaging story, and carried the most emotional weight of almost any game I can even think of. It was a send off to the 16-bit era and a grand finale for a system that had been so very warm and loving to us over the years. Remake Final Fantasy VI in the way that I will describe below, and we'll not only find ourselves back in a familiar realm, but we might even have a chance to spread the beauty of this game to the many people out there who began their Final Fantasy with number 7.

Throughout those shining years of my childhood, purchasing a new game often meant thumbing through the pages of a mammoth tome detailing impending gameplay down to the letter. If I were stuck on a long car trip with a recently-purchased title, digging into that precious parcel and retrieving the manual was the first thing on my mind. It was a way to game vicariously through a few simple, innocent pages, and one of the first ties I established to any game I had my heart set on playing through. Unfortunately, it's also a familiar constant that gamers new and old can kiss goodbye with the decision to downsize the distribution of manuals entirely, spearheaded by Ubisoft, and perhaps many more companies to follow.
