Mass Effect 2 Demo Coming to PS3 Next Week

Ps3 owners, wait no longer. Massive sci-fi RPG Mass Effect 2 has a new demo releasing for Ps3 on December 21. Although the game is set to be released January 18, this demo should give reluctant gamers a taste of what the hype is all about. In related news, EA also announced that the sequel, Mass Effect 3, will be releasing simultaneously for all platforms next Holiday season. [Source: EA]

Nintendo Monday: November 29, 2025

I hope you all survived Thanksgiving (especially the traveling part), and didn't get trampled if you braved the mall on Friday or Saturday. However, Nintendo is giving you something to be thankful for, and to spend any of that money you might have left over after this weekend's shopping sprees, by releasing Cave Story on DSiWare and as a WiiWare demo. Looks like one of my holiday wishes was just granted!

This week features three DSiWare titles, including Cave Story, two WiiWare games and the Cave Story demo, and believe it or not, a Virtual Console release as well. Remember that demos are available for a limited time, so get them while you can: and I highly recommend Cave Story; it's one of the best downloadable titles I've played on any system.

Give thanks that Nintendo has decided to re-implement its demo program, with for demos of WiiWare titles, including And Yet It Moves. Macy’s Giving Away Kinect; Doing In-Store Demos

In a recent press release from the major department store Macy's it was announced that in an effort to target those "trendy and tech savvy teens" they will be partnering with Microsoft to set up Kinect demo kiosks much earlier than the November 4, 2025 launch date. (more...)

E3 ’10: Rage Demo Impressions

One of the potentially hottest titles at this year's E3 was Bethesda and id Software's Rage. There were no playable demos at Bethesda's dinosaur-laden booth, but savvy appointment-makers had a chance to see a few levels of the game behind closed doors, and what we were shown left more than a few jaws dropped and eyes a-glitter.

E3 ’10: XCOM Demo Impressions

XCOM has in many ways been one of the most controversial games announced this year. 2K Marin, the team responsible for the excellent BioShock 2 experience we were gifted with in January, is taking a classic strategy franchise and giving it a first-person perspective. This has caused outrage among the more vocal XCOM devotees, but probably more interest among the rest of the gaming community -- particularly after a few screenshots showed the general aesthetic of the game. At E3 last week, we were shown a behind-closed-doors demo of XCOM and while I have no knowledge of the games of yore from which it was derived, I can now say that XCOM is on my radar, and shooting blobs of black goo with a shotgun has never looked so... pretty.

Lost Planet 2 Multiplayer Impressions — Now Audible!

The Spawn Kill crew recently got a hold of several Lost Planet 2 multiplayer demo codes, and though we gave many of the codes away, Snarkasaur, TheHerp, and K-Tuck couldn't help but check it out for themselves. The multiplayer itself was met with some mixed results both in terms of gameplay and game mechanics, so the crew took it upon themselves to run through the previously released co-op demo and compare the results between the two.

Splinter Cell: Conviction Demo hitting Xbox 360 March 18

Splinter Cell: Conviction has seen many delays whether it was for financial reasons or just because the game wasn’t ready yet. Finally the game is ready to come out and fans will be able to get their first chance to play the highly anticipated Splinter Cell title this Thursday when the exclusive demo arrives on the Xbox Marketplace. Bad Company 2 Demo Downloaded Over 2 Million Times

Big news from the Battlefield camp – they're happy to announce that the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 demo is on pace to become the fastest downloaded demo in EA history. The demo continues to dominate PSN and Xbox Live with over 2 million demo downloads across the two networks in the first five days of availability. Final Fantasy XIII Gets its Own Creepy Van

I suppose its more of a bus, and it's probably not so creepy. Players also get to test the game out so I'm mainly just covering up my jealousy with a bit of spite because I don't live in the San Francisco area (or anywhere remotely interesting). This bus tour kicks off in SanFran on the 13th of January and rolls to a stop on the 16th, giving fans a mere 3 days to hunt the pretty Bay Area streets for their fix of gorgeous RPG.
