Posted by Future Man on September 3rd, 2009

Order-of-War-LogoSquare Enix is about to release a WW2 RTS, Order of War, there’s some details on that inside and a demo available. It’s not a too shabby, either. Valve is about lay down the law to those cheating in Team Fortress 2 to obtain the dropped items, looks like they’re going to be able to kiss all of their ill gotten goods farewell. Lastly but not least, Blizzard has instituted a new service that allows you to change the faction your character belongs to, for a fee.

Check it all out in further detail, after the jump.

ALT+F4: Champions, and Villains

Posted by Future Man on September 1st, 2009

LangdellA couple of contrasting stories for you today, in hero and villain flavors. Cryptic’s MMO, Champions Online is now live, available on store shelves in North America and ready to go. Notorious patent troll, Tim Langdell, has stepped down from his fairly ironic position on the board at IGDA. But don’t worry, he provides plenty of laughable insanity in the letter explaining his departure.

Check it all out, after the jump.

Guild-Wars-2---Logo-BorderedAnyone tired of shoveling out money for MMO subscriptions should be glad to know that Guild Wars 2 will maintain series tradition of requiring nothing other than an initial purchase. Lots of juicy details have found their way out of hiding for this game, as well as a pretty sharp trailer that you can check out in the full story. Killing Floor just got updated with a significant content patch, adding two new weapons and a map, and it makes for a pretty good time. Ubisoft is opening up registration for beta testing their deception based RTS, R.U.S.E.

onyxia2Today brings with it a demo for Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood, to tempt anyone who has been considering the title since it was released earlier this year. ARMA II is heading to Takistan with new expansion ARMA II: Operation Arrowhead. World of Warcraft is making some old content a little more beefy in time for the 5th anniversary, by cranking Onyxia up a few notches for current players. This slow news day is brought to you by me getting to play mechanic all day, so look for some additional PC gaming goodness over the weekend.

killing-floor-dlcDue to the amount of slowdown in news flow for the Summer season, ALT+F4 is going to be on Tuesday and Thursday until things pick back up and there’s more news than anyone knows what to do with. This will allow enough time for digging through everything to cram all the good PC gaming news into this tasty bite sized snack.

Today, you can check out details on the new Killing Floor Character Pack DLC, tossing four new player models into the violent mix. If you’re currently wearing a Jedi robe and haven’t been able to play Star Wars The Force Unleashed on consoles, you’ll be glad to hear that it is headed toward the PC, with Aspyr Media behind the port. Champions Online has a solid date set for when the open beta goes live, but there’s only a finite amount of keys available, so get your clicking finger ready. Lastly but not least, an SDK for Zeno Clash has been released by the crew at Ace Team.

Scope out the rest of the story for all the details.

The always eventful Monday greets us with a indifferent wall of blah. Not too much PC news happened over the weekend. Sony Online Entertainment has reduced their workforce by a fair amount, more than likely just routine consolidation. In happier news, Paradox Interactive is celebrating 10 years of publishing games by offering 50% off on their games through a few digital distro services. Here’s to ten more years of publishing some of the less mainstream and more interesting games out there.

Check out the details after the jump.

ALT+F4: RAGE and WAR

Posted by Future Man on July 13th, 2009

Rage - Sloth?Another scorching hot weekend has spared me to enjoy another wonderful Monday. I couldn’t stir up quite as much interesting PC gaming news as usual, not really a whole lot happening right now. But what I did stumble on is pretty good stuff. id software has started releasing details slowly on their new ip, RAGE, starting with a teaser site and a big Game Informer cover story. Warhammer Online is looking to fix their flagging player count by merging servers.

Check the always exciting Monday news, after the jump.

This past week has been awesome for fans of the MechWarrior series, with the franchise getting a giant robot sized reboot. Keeping in the theme of talking entirely way too much about giant robots, MechWarrior 4 is going to be getting released for free to start drumming up excitement for robots shooting each other with lasers. However, that’s not the only game being made freely available, as Bethesda releases Daggerfall for everyone to grab.

Check all of this out in greater detail in ALT+F4, after the jump.
