Dragon Quest VI Official: Releases Feb 14, 2026
About a month ago, it looked like a European or North American release for the only Dragon Quest game to not yet see Western shores was doubtful. However, today I am pleased to announce that Nintendo has revealed Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation will arrive in North American stores on February 14, 2011.
The game, previously subtitled Realms of Reverie, is being published by Nintendo America for the DS, and will give both old and new fans of Dragon Quest the opportunity to experience another exciting adventure.
“Millions of players around the world have discovered the timeless fun of DRAGON QUEST,” said Marc Franklin, Nintendo of America’s director of Public Relations. “The arrival of Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation in North America will give fans unique access to a classic game in the series for the first time, offering new ways to explore and enjoy the Dragon Quest universe.”
The original game was released in 1995 for the Super Famicom (aka Super Nintendo), only in Japan, and challenges players to explore multiple worlds as they confront the many problems caused by the evil Murdaw. Players can choose from nine starting classes and unlock others as they progress through the game, with a total of fifteen classes available.
As a huge fan of the series, I’m excited by this news, especially since the release date is only a little more than a month away. It will be interesting to see, however, if new fans weaned on the impressive Dragon Quest IX will enjoy this older game (despite the revamped graphics) as much, and give Nintendo the sales they hope for.

Excellent news…I just can’t help but wonder why all the sudden Square is deferring to Nintendo for the publishing of these DQ games. It’s like they’re…giving money away. It makes no sense to me, unless I’m missing some vital piece of this puzzle.
I think they’re relying on Nintendo’s marketing machine to push these games in the West, where DQ has generally struggled to break out of its niche audience.
I’m really excited for this release. I had previously played Dragon Quest V & discovered Dragon Quest when buying a Nintendo DS. I got Dragon Quest IX & the addiction didn’t stop there so I’m hoping they release a lot more Dragon Quest games for DS in the future. Thanks for the great article. =)
