Review: Yogi Bear: The Video Game
As many gamers might recall a certain bear whose weakness was pic-a-nic baskets, D3 Publisher and Warner Bros. created Yogi Bear for the Nintendo DS and the Wii to go along with the box office release of the 3D live action movie of a childhood classic. But does this game do the "smarter-than-the-average-bear" icon and his trustworthy friend any justice?

The response to hearing about a new DASH game is pretty much the same, regardless of who is hearing the news: "Another DASH game?" The difference is the tone in which that statement is made. Either it's one of surprised disgust, confusion, or excitement. If you fall into the last of these categories, keep reading, as Soap Opera Dash is the latest in the franchise from PlayFirst, and one that strives to yet again take the series in a new direction. If you found games like Hotel Dash and Cooking Dash interesting diversions from the main food-delivery series we know and love, then Soap Opera Dash may be right up your alley, so stay tuned.

When you first look at the trailer for TribeToy’s indie fighter, Chu’s Dynasty, you can’t help but feel excited. The game looks incredible, and with boasts of having “the strategic fighting of Street Fighter with the multi-tiered 4-player mayhem of Super Smash Bros,” the game appears to have achieved greatness. But did TribeToy deliver on their promise? Or does Chu’s Dynasty follow the style-over-substance road that so many games in this generation seem to walk down?

From it's inception, there have always been RPGs and Tower Defense games in the Xbox Live Marketplace. The folks at MagicalTimeBean have yet again mashed up the two very popular genres in hopes of further improving upon the Soulcaster series. Soulcaster II is still the same RPG/tower defense game its predecessor was, but with a few welcome improvements. If the tower-rpg-defense genre takes off, it will be because Soulcaster II has laid the foundation with an incredibly entertaining game.

'Streamlined' has many different meanings depending on context. In the office, ‘streamlining’ means ‘start sending out your resume’. When referring to a car, ‘streamlined’ can be interpreted roughly as ‘looks like a phallus’. In reading reviews of Civilization V, streamlined is a word that will be seen a lot, and in the context of video games, this means pared-down features and a Cliff's Notes-type experience.

Xona Games has done it again with their shoot-em-up indie game, Score Rush. Just like with Decimation X3, Xona Games has grabbed a classic genre (this time Shmups), polished the gameplay and graphics, and added some insanely great music to give you a gaming experience that’s guaranteed to keep you coming back for more. With that said, not only is Score Rush one of the best shmups I’ve played in a long time, but for the price, it very well may be one of the best indie games I’ve played on the XBLA –ever.

Everyone is familiar with hidden object games. Whether it is in the form of a Where's Waldo? book, or hunting for your car keys as you try to make it to work on time (though this is never as fun as searching for the guy in stripes), those with keen eyesight can spot just about anything hidden within a picture. The Mystery of the Crystal Portal 2: Beyond the Horizon is G5 Entertainment AB's latest title to allow players to search for items hidden within a picture. But is this game too much of a strain on one's eyes for the experience it has to offer? I hope to answer that within this review.

Every so often a game is released which defies genre classification, and Asteroids Do Concern Me just so happens to be one such game. For reasons I'll cover later, the game seems to skirt every label imaginable and forces me both as a player and a writer to come up with an exclusive descriptor to try to quantify my experience with the game. The simplest title I can give Asteroids Do Concern Me is: “side-scrolling asteroid dodger”. While it's not the prettiest, of descriptions I think it pretty much sums up the entire game, which doesn't bode well for the game's depth.

We’ve seen it all before. Remakes of games that have been done over and over, and nothing new is added to the table. We get it. So what makes Decimation X3, this carbon-copy of Space Invaders, so much different than any other game that attempted the same feat? I’ll tell you what makes it so unique: everything. With its simplicity, blast-from-the-past graphics, and incredible soundtrack, Decimation X3 took on the challenge of remaking Space Invaders, and achieved it with such style and grace that it blew its competition out of space… Literally.

Gogogic’s Symbol6 Redux is a unique puzzler that, on the surface, seems like just another casual title. However, after spending some time with it, one comes to the realization that it’s one of the most addictive puzzlers to be found on the platform.
