Review: Yogi Bear: The Video Game

As many gamers might recall a certain bear whose weakness was pic-a-nic baskets, D3 Publisher and Warner Bros. created Yogi Bear for the Nintendo DS and the Wii to go along with the box office release of the 3D live action movie of a childhood classic. But does this game do the "smarter-than-the-average-bear" icon and his trustworthy friend any justice?

Dragon Quest VI Official: Releases Feb 14, 2026

About a month ago, it looked like a European or North American release for the only Dragon Quest game to not yet see Western shores was doubtful. However, today I am pleased to announce that Nintendo has revealed Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation will arrive in North American stores on February 14, 2011.

Nintendo Monday: December 20, 2025

Sorry for getting this up so late - in all the hustle and bustle leading up to the holiday, I completely forgot it was Monday! I know, hard to believe, right? Anyway, Ninty is offering up a few gifts this week, one in the form of FroBot for WiiWare, which is finally available at long last. Other than that, there's Mario Party 2 for VC, another WiiWare release, and a handful of DSi titles to keep you busy. As always, hit the break for the full list of releases. (more...)

Nintendo Set To Reveal 3DS Launch Plans in Amsterdam Next Month

Back in September, Nintendo held a big 3DS-centric event, detailing the system and showing off its features and games. Now, Nintendo is planning to take it a step further and reveal launch details on the highly-anticipated 3D handheld. On January 19th, in Amsterdam, Nintendo will be doing just that. The event is set to once again showcase the platform, as well as give us solid launch dates for the platform. We're also going to be treated to a list of day-one launch games, of which there are a multitude to be considered as possibilities.

Nintendo Monday: November 13, 2025

Christmas is just around the corner, and those of you who were good this year may already have gotten a chance to play the recently released 25th Anniversary collection of Super Mario All-Stars for Wii. For those of you who may have to wait to revel in nostalgia gaming goodness, Nintendo has seven downloadable releases for this week, including (shockingly) yet another Virtual Console release, three WiiWare releases (and one demo), and three DSiWare releases.

The biggest highlight for this week is Little Red Riding Hood's Zombie BBQ for DSiWare, which was previously released at retail, although it isn't clear if this week's version is the entire game or not - if you play it, and played the original, be sure to let us know in the comments!

As usual, hit the break for the full list of releases, with details and pics, for this week.

You Can Now Move and Shoot in Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D

One of the major complaints regarding the Resident Evil franchise is the inability to move and shoot simultaneously. Looks like those people with such complaints should be happy right about now. Details have surfaced from the latest Famitsu that reveals Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, for the Nintendo 3DS, will include the freedom to do just that.

Nintendo Monday: December 6, 2025

Nintendo must really be getting into the holiday spirit this week, as they're showering us with updates for this week, with eight new titles to enjoy, including not one, but TWO virtual console releases, not to mention Fluidity for WiiWare. No new demos for this week, sadly, but you should have plenty to keep you occupied anyway. As usual, hit the break for the full list of releases! (more...)

Review: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1

A popular trend with a lot of movies, especially ones aimed towards the younger generation, is to have a video game counterpart released alongside the movie. Another popular trend is for the game to be lacking in some form. EA Bright Light Studio's title Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 is one such game to be released in such a manner. But is it able to surpass the low expectations of movie-based games or will Harry Potter wish that he stuck with Quidditch?

Nintendo Monday: November 29, 2025

I hope you all survived Thanksgiving (especially the traveling part), and didn't get trampled if you braved the mall on Friday or Saturday. However, Nintendo is giving you something to be thankful for, and to spend any of that money you might have left over after this weekend's shopping sprees, by releasing Cave Story on DSiWare and as a WiiWare demo. Looks like one of my holiday wishes was just granted!

This week features three DSiWare titles, including Cave Story, two WiiWare games and the Cave Story demo, and believe it or not, a Virtual Console release as well. Remember that demos are available for a limited time, so get them while you can: and I highly recommend Cave Story; it's one of the best downloadable titles I've played on any system.

As usual, hit the break for the full release details.

Nielsen: Kids Asking Santa for iPad/iPod Touch More Than Gaming Systems

A new survey done by the Nielsen company is showing that kids in the six-to-twelve age range are wanting Apple's iPad and iPod Touch more than any other gaming system, handheld or console. The October survey has recorded that 31 percent of children asked were interested in buying an iPad while 29 percent of them would like an iPod Touch. Following in at 25 percent is Nintendo's DS/DSi/DS Lite. It is the highest ranking traditional console to lead the PlayStation 3, Wii, and Xbox 360 at 21 percent, 18 percent, and 12 percent respectively.
