Evil Ryu and Oni Akuma Confirmed For Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition

I hope you like more shotos, Street Fighter fans. Evil Ryu and Oni Akuma have risen fiery pits of Rowland Heights, California’s Arcade Infinity. The two evil - or “eviler” for Akuma - versions of the two most popular Shoto fighters are making a return in the Arcade Edition of Super Street Fighter. User Confus3dable has uploaded the videos displaying them in action.

Oni Akuma looks like “True” Akuma from the previous games, and looks like he has a backdash in the air. Evil Ryu gains a slamming leg move, a multi-hit uppercut, and the Instant Hell Murder technique that Akuma has. So far, nothing else has been revealed. For console gamers, these will be your extra characters alongside Yun and Yang. No Charlie, Q, or Alex.

Expect both of these characters to be banned in any official tournaments, despite this Street Fighter being the most balanced of all the iterations.

  • Mr.Kenny says:

Hm my friend showed me this yesterday. I dont think they will be banned however. That’s the same thing people were saying about Seth and Gouken before SF4 was released and they aren’t…

  • Ryan Collins says:

Seth and Gouken weren’t too broken, more so since Seth could be stunned easily and Gouken has a system around counters and can’t rush down (at least, how I’ve seen him play).

IIRC, Akuma was banned when he was first introduced, which is why I stated that. A little nod to old-school SF fans :)
