Who Are You Going To Call Again? Ghostbusters!
For everyone who didn’t get their fill of busting ghosts with the 2009 Ghostbusters game, fear not as it’s sequel Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime is on the way. According to a USA Today article, the folks at Atari are planning to release the download-only game in spring of 2011 via the Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, and PC.
Judging by the screen shots released along with the announcement, it looks as though Atari has scrapped the gameplay and visual styling of the original game and opted for a top down co-op shooter instead. You and three other people will be able to play locally or online, but so far the only confirmed character is “the rookie” introduced in the first game. On a sad note, none of the other original characters from the first game will appear in Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime.
On the plus side, players will get to work together to take down “giant bosses” while using weapons like the proton pack, plasma inductor, and fermion shock. Also confirmed is the ability to drive the Ecto-4WD, an off-road version of the Ecto-3.
No pricing or concrete release day has been announced, but look for Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime some time in the spring of 2011

This might actually turn out to be a better direction for them
I can definitely understand why they went this way, but I don’t really see myself playing this game, whereas I enjoyed the first one, and was even tempted to get it on both PS3 and Wii.
I wouldn’t mind trying this though I know my boys are going to want it as soon as it comes out. Nothing beats getting the younger generation hooked on a classic like Ghostbusters.
