Atlus’ latest PS3 and Xbox 360 game Catherine, has caused quite a stir with how heavy it is on sexual content. All trailers that have been released have shown bits and pieces of this but lacked any actual gameplay footage. With the recently opened “Game System” section of the official Japanese Catherine website, one would expect to see more information on how the gameplay will work.

At this time, the only part that can be accessed is “Drama” which will feature samples of the real time event scenes using 3D models and Studio 4C’s animated sequences. This part revolves around “the love and hate drama that takes place from the time that you wake up” and centers on the main heroines, Catherine and Katherine, who appear to vie for a place in Vincent’s heart.

The inaccessible parts are titled Nightmare and Stray Sheep. It is assumed that Nightmare could be the action-oriented part of the game where Vincent flees from unnatural creatures. Stray Sheep is the name of the bar visited by Vincent and friends on a regular basis. The official site currently offers voice samplings of Vincent’s friends.

It makes me wonder why Atlus is so “afraid” to give any gameplay details so far…

I hope they don’t decide to take advantage of the Kinect and Move hardware. :( I dread to see how the gameplay would turn out.

But my guess on why they are delaying any gameplay information is probably to see if they can build up people’s interest in the game just to announce it might play like the Persona games or something.

I don’t know. If it was going to play similarly to past games, then why not say so? It feels like they’re hiding it.

Good point. This really piques my interest in the game more.
