Head Developer of Lord of the Rings RPG Calls it Quits
After 13 years, the founder and president of Snowblind Studios, Ryan Geithman, confirmed that he has left the Seattle-based company today. Including the in-progress Lord of the Rings: War in the North action-adventure co-op game, Snowblind Studios’ credits include Champions of Norrath and Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance.
Mr. Geithman remarked about the tough decision he made:
“After thirteen years of leading the company, I am leaving Snowblind. It was a difficult decision to leave while the studio is in production on The Lord of the Rings: War in the North, but I am confident the team will succeed in making a great game. My years with Snowblind have been very fulfilling and I am transitioning to the next part of my career, so I have made the decision to leave the game in the team’s capable hands.”
Geithman is the latest in a string of developers stepping down from their positions in other gaming companies; one has to wonder and worry who might be next.
As of now, Lord of the Rings: War in the North is still slated for release sometime in 2011 for the Xbox 360, PC, and Ps3.

Looking forward to this game. Hopefully his leaving doesn’t tank it.
