Descend Into Madness with Amnesia: The Dark Descent
“If you love horror, there’s no two ways about it: you must play Amnesia,” says Neoseeker on behalf of Frictional Games new survival-horror game, Amnesia: The Dark Descent. The release date was announced on the titles home page yesterday and the game can now be downloaded via Steam, Direct2Drive, etc. Amnesia’s scores have been setting the roof ablaze thus far, with IGN giving it a solid 8.5 and Game Informer handing out an A with most of the commentary praising Amnesia on it’s originality and genuine scare factor—something the Survival Horror genre has been skimping out on lately, I find.
“Amnesia: The Dark Descent puts you in the shoes of Daniel as he wakes up in a desolate castle, barely remembering anything about his past. Exploring the eerie pathways, you must also take part of Daniel’s troubled memories. The horror does not only come from the outside, but from the inside as well. A disturbing odyssey into the dark corners of the human mind awaits.”
If you’re like me and found Frictional Games’ previous project, the Penumbra series, very worth your while, then definitely head to the official website and download the DEMO right now. If you’ve never played Penumbra, then… well, what are you waiting for? Amnesia: The Dark Descent is currently available for $20 on PC, Mac and Linux . Here is a short video on the field recording of authentic sounds you’ll hear throughout Amnesia, sure to inflict authentic urinating.
