Final Fantasy XIII Ad Banned in UK

The UK isn’t going to stand for Final Fantasy XIII—by this I meant a “misleading” televised ad. In a recent commercial aired in the UK, Square-Enix seemingly went all disingenuous on their viewership when they showcased PS3 footage in a strictly 360 ad. The UK’s Advertising Standards Authority reported “there was a discernible difference in the picture quality of the two; the PS3 image in video sequences appeared sharper and colors were more vivid than those of the Xbox 360.”
Apparently, a very sharp and likely geeky individual with a lot of free-time on his/her hands felt offended enough to share this with the proper authorities and the ASA responded accordingly.
Why you gotta play me like that, girl? I’d assume Square-Enix believed it to be too difficult, even for the discerning gamer, to pinpoint any major difference in quality. While the company did confess to their sneaky blunder, they defended their honor by noting the footage shown was a pre-rendered cinematic played back on the console. “[Final Fantasy XIII] had been designed for output in the same resolution…[both versions] were comparable in terms of quality,” added Square-Enix.
Commercial success doesn’t always equal critical acclaim and Final Fantasy XIII is a good example of this; it’s visual appeal and artistic genius is, arguably, it’s only defining accomplishment-if that. So, can I complain for feeling mislead?
