Today EA Sports announced that all new copies of NBA Elite will come packaged with NBA Jam. This is the same deal where you have to buy it new to get the code to download it but that’s one hell of an incentive to buy it new. There will three modes of NBA Jam included with NBA Elite, one of which is an online mode. NBA 2K11 has Jordan on the cover and now NBA Elite has NBA Jam, the competition is heating up. Along with this announcement EA also talked about the improved physics system and the new control scheme, check out the video interview.

I was very surprised by last year’s basketball title from EA and was very pleased that it had working online play. It was definitely a different type of game from 2K10; it was a little more on the arcade side. But this year EA Sports hopes to change that by bringing in the new physics engine used in their popular NHL and FIFA titles. NBA Jam which I’ve gotten a chance to get some hands on time with, is just as fun as it was back in the day. I think this is great for NBA Elite sales but I also think this could hurt the Wii sales. Either way be on the lookout for a mid to late September release date for the NBA Elite demo.

Why would I buy a boring game just to get a fun one...

lol i know you didnt play nba live 10 cause that game is anything but boring. 2k is more of a sim game so that would be more boring than the high scoring nba live games.

It's the same as the one for the Wii but with only three modes. I don't know why people would think it's the old one.

My only question is - have they said if it is the NEW NBA Jam or the old one that is coming with NBA Elite? I don't know why they'd want to hurt their Wii version's sales by packing it for free with the other consoles so I'm thinking it's just a downloadable-ish version of the old NBA Jam.

It's the new Jam but with missing modes. Now I see why ea was so dodgey when i asked about multi plat releases.

Ooooh. Good point. I could see them duping people into thinking they're getting the new version and then sticking the old one in there instead. It's true they never say clearly that it is the new version...
  • TheHerp
Pretty sure its the new one
