It’s been TEN years since American McGee announced the deranged epic Alice title on the PC. Ten years! At EA’s recent Studio Showcase media event they’ve (this time officially) announced that they will be releasing the sequel next year in 2011 for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Judging by the screenshots (in-game!), concept art, and the wild teaser trailer they’ve dished out — Alice: Madness Returns is following in the proper footsteps of its mind-altering predecessor.

Alice has been institutionalized for the past ten years since the original game. After her release, she gains the help of a psychiatrist who aims to help her uncover the reason behind her family’s death in the fire and take down the reasons behind her hallucinogenic nightmare world. Check out the latest screenshots and teaser below! Keep following Spawn Kill for any updates on Alice: Madness Returns because we have been waiting for this announcement for ages! Fans, to say the least…

Creepy. I never played the first one, but I'm definitely going to look forward to this one.

I think I still have the first game lying around somewhere. I beat it in '07-'08-ish I think.

1.was it only a -things pop up and make you jump horror, or was it a good horror?
2.It looks good but i rarely purchase sequels without knowing how the original was.
3.i'm also wondering if gameplay is thrilling, by the way no NEED to respond just wondering and if you don't i'll just assume you can't remember the whole game which i would understand.

I was like Tigresa said. It was more of a psychological scary than boo type. What made the game so great was the art style and utter bizarreness along with a great score. The music was just as creepy as the game itself. It is a very interesting combination that works so well for the material American McGee was working with. It is well paced and a great game overall. It is still worth playing through today. I have played it all the way through three times over the years. Plan to do so again before this one comes out.

The first game is more "fudged up" scary and psychotic than "Boo!" scary, which lent to what made it so unique. The art style and just crazy ideas it had made it so awesome. I'm not sure which route they're taking it with this one, they are calling it an action adventure title, but I'm confident the psychoticness will be retained for the sequel. Could only look creepier with updated visuals... I have to go back and finish the first one, I have it but maybe got halfway. I def will before Madness Returns comes out!

I thought it was more "spooky" than "scary", mostly because of the bizarre art design. The game controlled like a third-person shooter of sorts with some platforming, so it was okay. It was remembered more for it's looks than the gameplay though.
