Naughty Bear Becomes Naughty Bears with Multiplayer

Apparently killing fictional bears in gruesome fashion just isn’t enough for some people because today 505 Games and Artificial Mind & Movement have announced some multiplayer mayhem for their upcoming Naughty Bear release. I hadn’t even known the game would sport multiplayer, let alone feature so many modes to dish out the nasty in.
Right now, there are four multiplayer modes involved. While playing through the actual campaign, players can participate in challenges during each chapter, that if completed unlock special costumes for multiplayer use. The modes available are detailed below:
- Assault - Assault mode features an iconic red versus blue bear match-up and sees players attemping to defend and destroy a statue on the Isle of Perfection. Players can utilize traps, barricades, and stealth in order to stop the statue from being destroyed, or obviously to destroy it. This is also a good chance to engage in all out hack n slash bear warfare.
- Cake Walk – Cake Walk is another familiar staple of multiplayer games and sees bears rushing to grab the Glorious Golden Cupcake and hold on to it for the longest amount of time. While holding the cupcake, players can neither attack nor defend, making for what I would assume is a chaotic and hand-changing mode of play.
- Golden Oozi – In Golden Oozi, players must take control of the Golden Oozi of Doomness, a wicked gun with unlimited ammunition and the only method of scoring points. This mode sees players working together to kill the current gun-wielder, and then turning on one another in an attempt to take up the gun themselves. The player with the most Oozi kills at the end of a round wins.
- Jelly Wars – Jelly Wars is a cooperate 3 on 1 multiplayer mode, and has three players taking control of Daddles, Cozy and Sunbeam in order to bring ingredients to their giant mixer and bake up a wonderful, tasty super-jelly treat. Unfortunately, the player in Naughty Bear’s fur is out there attempting to stop this event, and must kill three bears in order to do so. And once dead, there’s no coming back. The match is decided when everyone is dead, or when 5 jellies are collected.
A few of the power ups detailed for the Naughty Bear multiplayer include a paint trap that makes players lose any camouflage benefits, a rage capsule that gives them super strength, and a speed capsule for super speed. It’s surprising that they haven’t announced much about this until now because it sounds like a blast, even though tacking on multiplayer to every game that comes out is becoming an overused fad. It could very well work in Naughty Bear though, mostly because it’s all so zany as is that throwing multiplayer chaos into the mix seems like a natural fit. We’ll know soon enough as the game comes out a week from tomorrow on June 29th for the Xbox 360 and PS3 and should run about 50 bucks. Check out the hilarious video and screenshots below for visual tastes of the modes described above.
