Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Dated, Bundle Info Revealed

It was pretty much a given that Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep would be hitting North American stores, but today Square Enix confirmed it with both a solid release date and the inclusion of the game into an exclusive bundle package. First off, the game now has a September 7th release date. Secondly, the bundle is said to be a “mystic silver” PSP 3000, along with the game obviously, a movie, and a 4 gig memory stick, once again proving how little faith Sony has in the PSP Go. And in case you’re wondering, mystic silver is the same silver as every other silver PSP.

“The entire development team is extremely happy to announce the North American release date for Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep,” said Tetsuya Nomura, director of the Kingdom hearts series. “We hate to keep fans waiting, but we’ve added some brand-new features for the North American version, so even those who have been following the Japanese version are sure to find a few surprises. In addition, we’ve put together an outstanding voice cast. We can’t wait for everyone to experience this game!”

For those wondering just what those new North American features are, they’ll include an extra boss, additional multiplayer options, and Crown Stickers, which are apparently just collectible stickers to put in an in-game album. The voice cast, on the opposite side of the awesome spectrum, is indeed outstanding, featuring the likes of James Woods, Mark Hamil, and Spock (Leonard Nemoy) himself.

The game is retailing at $39.99, but no word yet on the bundle price. We could probably make a pretty accurate guess at $199.99, however, as that is the price of all the previous PSP bundles.

I like how his name is quoted as Spock before his real name, hahaha. I am a big KH fan (I like to think) but it's limited to the console versions. All the handhelds thus far have been time wasters and unenjoyable repetitive romps through nothingness. But like the sucker I am, Birth By Sleep looks to be the best of the bunch thus far so I'll probably end up laying into this as well… I find it weird that that one guy looks /exactly/ like Roxas, who I hate. T_T

I love KH1 and 2. They were amazing. I bought a PSP just for stuff like this - to play Square-Enix games. Bummed that there isn't a KH for the PS3 (yet?) but glad that it's not going on the DS again. I didn't care for that DS game, ugh.

The story in the DS game had its moments, but I didn't like it either. I never got around to finishing the Chain of Memories PS2 remake though…

how come no one likes the ds game? i loved it! im almost finished. 5 more days until i finish

358/2? No one likes it because it's repetitive and hardly sheds light on anything in the story. You literally do the same missions over and over and over and over with no reward but the ability to keep slaving for an ending that isn't that exciting. :(
