So Brad Pitt Wants to Make a Movie…
What does this have to do with video games you ask? For starters, it’s going to be based on a video game. What game, you ask? Well, a game that hasn’t even been released yet. It’s also a completely new IP and developer too. Mr. Pitt is taking quite the leap with this business endeavor if you ask me.
The movie is going to be based on the upcoming 2010 game, Dark Void. The deal was struck up at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival between Pitt’s production company, Plan B Entertainment, and Capcom and Reliance BIG Entertainment.
Germaine Gioia, for Capcom, said, “As a game, Dark Void was developed with a wide-screen mentality - a world full of adventure presented in cinematic scope and scale.”
Capcom explains Dark Void as ”an adrenaline-fuelled blend of aerial and ground-pounding combat which centers on Will, a pilot who crash lands in the Bermuda Triangle following a routine mission. Will wakes up to find himself in ‘The Void,’ an alternate world resembling a primitive earth where aliens with superior technology are planning to take over civilization. Together with a faction of humans who have disappeared into the Void, Will takes on the alien race using their own advanced technology including a high-powered jet pack to defeat them and keep order in the civilized world.”

I somehow doubt Pitt will actually be in this. Making the jump to sci fi isn’t exactly conducive to keeping one’s image…
