BioWare titles always have you playing as the hero in which you have the chance to create. In BioWare’s upcoming Dragon Age: Origins you will once again be able to create the hero that will save all humanity. The game is still 3 weeks away but for PC fans you can download the Character Creator right now to get ready for the release. According to the Dragon Age forums the creator will be available October 13th 10 am Mountain Standard Time.

Dragon Age: Origins Character Creator is taken right from the main game and will allow you to create a large amount of characters in preparation for the PC launch. You can experiment with all the different classes, races and facial features for the six origin stories. The characters will be saved to your hard drive so you can easily load them once the full game is installed. The Character Creator will be a 320MB size file and the system requirements for it will be the same as the requirements for the full game. The download will either be posted on the Dragon Age site or at BioWare.com. Of course everyone and their mom will be trying to download this exactly at 10am, so you might want to give it a couple of hours to get to the fastest download.

Also going live today is the open beta for the new social community site for Dragon Age: Origins. If you have an existing Bio Ware forum account your same log in info will be carried over to the new site. The characters created using the Character Creator can be uploaded to the community site and can also be used as an avatar.

Even though the creator will only be available on PC it will be cool to see what kind of characters can be made. I assume the character creation system will be the same for both PC and console systems so even if you aren’t going to be playing it on a PC, it’s still worth checking out. I only hope you can do a lot more with the character than in previous BioWare games. If this still isn’t enough to hold you over till the games release here’s a very cool CGI trailer that will make you want the game even more.
