killing-floor-dlcDue to the amount of slowdown in news flow for the Summer season, ALT+F4 is going to be on Tuesday and Thursday until things pick back up and there’s more news than anyone knows what to do with. This will allow enough time for digging through everything to cram all the good PC gaming news into this tasty bite sized snack.

Today, you can check out details on the new Killing Floor Character Pack DLC, tossing four new player models into the violent mix. If you’re currently wearing a Jedi robe and haven’t been able to play Star Wars The Force Unleashed on consoles, you’ll be glad to hear that it is headed toward the PC, with Aspyr Media behind the port. Champions Online has a solid date set for when the open beta goes live, but there’s only a finite amount of keys available, so get your clicking finger ready. Lastly but not least, an SDK for Zeno Clash has been released by the crew at Ace Team.

Scope out the rest of the story for all the details.

Killing Floor Character DLC

For $1.99, you can get access to four new player models in addition to the current lineup of either police blue or camouflaged characters in Killing Floor. The new characters are all distinctly different looking, adding some visual flair for those of us who have spent maybe too much time looking at the game since launch.

  • Agent Wilkes: One of Horzine’s own security guards, still in his uniform, enhanced with Horzine’s own Mark 7 combat suit.
  • Foundry Worker Aldridge: A welder who managed to survive the zombie onslaught inside the Foundry, still in his working gear.
  • DJ Scully: Ex British army soldier, moonlighting as an underground DJ when the apocalypse hit.
  • Dr Gary Glover: Sent in as part of the emergency response team, Dr Glover managed to survive infection inside his Hazmat suit.

While this current pack did not launch with the content update that adds the new map, Foundry, as well as the AK-47 and Katana, it is said to be coming soon.

If you want to grab the DLC, it’s available on Steam right here.

Star Wars The Force Unleased: Ultimate Sith Edition to Force Choke PC/Mac

It seems as If technology has made significant leaps and bounds since the release of Star Wars The Force Unleashed. Originally the game wasn’t scheduled to come to PC due to technical constraints, primarily the massive system requirements that would be required to experience the game properly. Now, however, Aspyr Media is going to be porting it over, with an additional three levels.

The additional three missions we’re getting with the Star Wars The Force Unleashed: Ultimate Sith edition, or, SWTFUUSE, as I’m starting to like to call it, include you playing as the Secret Apprentice to Darth Vader, sifting through the remains of the Jedi Temple while dealing with “inner demons”. The second offering play off of a “What if?” style scenario taking a look at how everything might be had the Apprentice taken Vader’s position as the right hand of the Emperor. Lastly, the third new level included will set you as the Apprentice going up against Luke Skywalker himself on Hoth.

Alongside these additional levels are a slew of new skins and player models for the player to use, the most interesting being C-3PO, who I’ve been waiting to see as a saber wielding death machine. Additionally, players will have access to more standard fare for the Star Wars universe such as Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, Count Dooku, and Jango Fett.

Aspyr Media has primarily functioned to bring Windows platform games over to Mac, also doing the occasional console to Windows port. They’ve been doing it for quite awhile, and while I’ve never played one of their ports myself, I’ll probably have to pick this up and see what the 6 million sales on other platforms were all about.

Champions Online Open Beta Dated, August 17th

Spandex underpants wearing simulator, Champions Online, is going to be released on an unsuspecting public August 17th for open beta, although registration starts on August 5th. The beta is going to have 50,000 keys up for grabs, and they’re going to be up for said grabbing via Fileplanet, or pre-ordering a copy will get you a spot. The game goes live on September 1st, so expect the beta to come to an end shortly before that.

From details available on the Champions Online website, and videos previously released, this looks like a fun departure from gritty sci-fi, or moody sword and sorcery on the MMO front. The developer, Cryptic, is no slouch to super hero gaming either, having previously done City of Heroes and City of Villians. With all the previous MMO experience, I hope they manage to pull off a relatively smooth launch, or as smooth as an MMO launch can possibly be.

Check out all of the details right here.

Tool Around with Zeno Clash

Andres Bordeu, of Ace Team, the developers behind the incredible Zeno Clash, has announced the release of the SDK. The SDK will allow users to have a go at creating content half as bizarre as what was included in the original game, not an easy task.

The files and documentation on the SDK are available right here.

You can view the original announcement right here.
