The Secret Of Monkey Island: Special Edition Coming To Xbox Live

Imaginings of classic games as we all know usually go awry. So in many cases the best thing to do to enhance a classic game is nothing at all. LucasArts is doing just that with their beloved classic The Secret of Monkey Island. But what is a classic game brought to the Xbox 360 without the extra glam? The newly enhanced version of the game will include brand new character art in the same graphical style of the original. It will also include beautiful hand-painted backgrounds and environments in absolutely glorious 1080i widescreen resolution for your eyes to feast upon.

Now some people might love the soothing melodies of those retro games, but The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition will include a newly recorded score to accompany the beloved game. Also another very noticeable addition to the special addition version of The Secret of Monkey Island is the inclusion of voice overs. Now some people get the majority of their yearly reading through video games, but the people over at LucasArts decided pure text was totally old school and decided to add new voice track to add some emotion to the classical characters. The character of Guybrush Threepwood will be voiced by Dominic Armato, whom voiced the character in games released after the original. Earl Boen will reprise his role as the infamous, malevolent LeChuck.

If the all new glitter and glam of the remastered version of the game doesn’t please your retro gaming appetite, then you can switch over to the 256-bit color enhanced version of the game. This version of the game also includes a hint system, which could be incredibly handy for anyone who hasn’t played a Monkey Island game before. As for the release date there is no official word as of today, but according to the official Xbox website the game is being set to release in the Summer of 2009. A retro classic brought to world of modern gaming, a dynamite equation for becoming a modern classic.
