Summer is almost over, and fall is just around the corner… So what does that mean? Another XBLA promo! As we heard yesterday, Super Meat Boy was going to be the main course for Microsoft’s “Game Feast.” Microsoft has officially announced the feast, and also listed the appetizer-games going along with it. From the looks of it, we’re in for some good eatin’ this fall.

Receiving many complaints about the Xbox 360’s infamous D-Pad (especially for fighting games), the folks at Microsoft have finally decided to do something about it. There have been rumors about a “rotating” D-Pad revolving around the internet, but today Microsoft has confirmed their new (and shiny) controller, along with its “transforming” D-Pad. Take a look below to see a video of it, brought to you by none other than Major Nelson.

Well, before that, get ready to make a decision about which store you’re buying this year’s Smackdown vs. Raw from, because many stores seem to be offering different bonuses. BioWare has done a more than fair job so far at releasing DLC.  A few of their packs have been decent, a couple above and beyond what I generally expect of DLC, and now with the release of Golems of Amgarrak we get a new end of the spectrum.  If you don’t want to read the rest of this review, I can tell you how much this DLC is worth in dollar terms right now: one shiny American dollar.  Big Dragon Age fans might be interested in throwing down more.  The measly five dollars they ask for it, however, is overpriced for what it’s worth.  In short, this is Dragon Age’s worst DLC to date, and its shortest, to boot.

This week’s Xbox Live updates and Deal of the Week include a bit of juiciness. In order to get you ramped up for next week’s newest DLC The Golems of Amgarrak for Dragon Age: Origins, the prices have been slashed for Warden’s Keep putting it at 400 MSP this week (definitely worth it!), Return to Ostagar is stripped down to only 240 MSP, which wasn’t amazing content but certainly not bad either (crucifixions!), especially for $3, and lastly the expansion Awakening is downloadable for $30 (instead of the original $40). Read on for the rest of the updates and additions being added to the Xbox Live marketplace! Plus, Shark Week.

Review: Naughty Bear

Posted by Stephanie "Tigresa" Palermo on July 16th, 2010

Naughty Bear, when first announced, gave me a vibe that I’d get from those games I used to play as a kid but shouldn’t have, you know, like Conker’s Bad Fur Day. The games you had to have your friend’s less-righteous-than-your-mother parent to buy at Blockbuster for you because you’re 12. While not nearly as mature as anything like Conker, you can perform some incredibly criminal acts to the seemingly innocent sacks of fluff living on Perfection Island. Oh, if they had just invited me to their birthday party…

Since everyone knows that Xbox 360 achievements get leaked before most games come out anyway, Bungie decided to give all the fans a little sneak preview of some of the achievements gamers can earn on their newest Halo installment, Halo: Reach. In Bungie’s recent update, they stated that there are 49 achievements in all, and they revealed the icon art for all 49 of them (pictured below). Although Bungie didn’t discuss all of the achievements’ details, they managed to reveal a few.

After more than 20 years, everyone’s favorite moonwalker (may he Rest in Peace)  is finally getting another video game made for him. Ubisoft’s Michael Jackson game, simply titled Michael Jackson: The Experience, is going to be developed for the PSP, DS, Wii, Xbox 360, and PS3. According to Ubisoft, The Experience will utilize the Wii MotionPlus, Kinect, and Move. Get ready to Beat It, Jackson fans.

The Wii version will be similar to Ubisoft’s Just Dance, while the Xbox 360 version is going to project 3D images of the player onto the screen (can we say Michael Jackson costumes?). Both the DS and PSP versions are said to be tap-based games. Not too much has been discussed about the PS3 version yet, but be sure that we will keep you updated as frequently as possible about The King of Pop’s latest video game appearance.

It’s too few and far between these days that we get to experience solid console co-op games. The last enjoyable one off the top of my head that I played extensively was Resident Evil 5, and that was already well over a year ago. Oh, and Borderlands, which is certainly fun, but moreso in the way that you and some friends can “hang out” and do a ton of mindless (the story is as generic as generic gets and you know it!) but really fun missions. That’s why when Bethesda announced they were publishing inXile Entertainment’s upcoming co-op title Hunted: The Demon’s Forge, I’ve kept my eyes peeled ever since. Luckily, at E3 I had the chance to play an extremely polished demo of Hunted and walked away with feelings of probably the game I would have been hands-down most excited to take home with me from E3.

Last week, the demo for Crackdown 2 landed on the Xbox Live Marketplace, and not having had a chance to jump into the game at E3, I cheerfully downloaded it.  I had recently picked up the original Crackdown for a mere twelve dollars, but had yet to play it, making this demo a fresh experience.  I played through it, then immediately put the original game in my Xbox and played through the entire thing that very weekend.  I guess you could say the Crackdown 2 demo makes a good impression.

Sega prepping sophisticated Kinect title for late 2011

Most of the games that plan to be launched with Microsoft’s Kinect add-on for the Xbox 360 are admittedly not titles aimed at whom some call “core gamers” or “hardcore gamers.” Sega West president Mike Hayes told CVG that this is because development for the Kinect has only been proceeding for under a year, and that hardcore titles will be arriving after developers have figured out how to best use the device. So with that, Hayes revealed that Sega’s first Kinect title targeted at hardcore gamers will arrive in late 2011 or early 2012.

One of my most anticipated titles on the Xbox 360 for E3 2010 was Fable III. Fable II was such an enjoyment for me, but it always left the horizon open for what could have and should have been to make it the best experience Fable could be. Peter Molyneux of Lionhead Studios is known for his big promises and high hopes to push the genre forward with innovation but like most games and game company leaders – we hold our breath until we put our own two hands on the game and see for ourselves. In Fable II we were promised an expansive and immersive co-op experience, and the online turned out to be pretty damn close to nailing complete and utter failure despite how enjoyable the single player experience was. At E3 we got some hands-on time with the latest build of Fable III and talked to some of the development team on some of the pretty creative and interesting things to expect from your online experience in Fable III.
