NATHANIEL_05Heavy Rain is coming out sooner than you think, and Jesus is a celebrity in this household featured in this new batch of screenshots from Sony for Heavy Rain. ESRB Warning: Religion and crosses under the break. NSFW depending on if you work in a terrorist operations base or not. Look out for our hands-on preview of Heavy Rain this week at Spawn Kill while you feast on this batch of screenshots!

There are so many eccentric and “goes there” levels in Heavy Rain from what I’ve seen in these screenshots, and the levels I got a chance to play recently like the level titled Suicide Baby. It seems like Heavy Rain is going hard, bar none, in this self-proclaimed “interactive drama” game. There’s no official release date, but my senses have been guided by various parties to believe it will receive a February 2010 launch window. From what I played, the game seemed like it was close to being finished, if not already! All of the epilogues (the various endings) were available for viewing on the demo available, but I didn’t want to spoil myself for when I get to fully experience it as intended!

twilightScene it? Twilight is the latest in the Twilight-banking escapades with a gameplan to hit 13 year old girl’s women of all ages’ Christmas stockings across America. Releasing this week (November 24th) for the Wii and Nintendo DS, Scene It? Twilight will test players on their memory of lines from the theatrical release, movie clips, and knowledge of the characters. There doesn’t seem to be any relation to the novels. I think it’d make a great gift for Wii owners to play for Christmas, especially with fans hitting their peak over New Moon just recently taking over the box office for the year. Apparently according to the news, there are more Twilight fans than Batman fans! The Twilight Saga’s New Moon trounced The Dark Knight in box office sales.

Check out the gallery of screenshots from the game below.

logoJapanese Wii owners will be getting another new WiiWare title on October 27: Game Arts’ Shadow Walker: The Boy of Shadow and the Fairy of Light.  In the game, you must use your ability to manipulate light in order to create a path of shadows to lead the tree fairy to the special location at each level.  Once at that location, and when exposed to light, she will transform into a tree, which is apparently the goal of the game. Although details are sparse, a North American release is in the works, although no date has yet been set.

GameArts has previously been known for the Grandia and Lunar RPG series, as well as working with Nintendo on Smash Bros Brawl.  Check out the very Phantom Hourglass-like visuals in the screens after the break.

coverartDo you love to watch shows like Law & Order and CSI?  While several games have attempted to bring the CSI experience to your DS, Crime Scene from SouthPeak games promises to make the experience really come to life so that you really feel like a crime scene investigator, and not a gamer simply playing minigames, with the added bonus that there’s no real blood involved.

Unlike many other similar mystery- or crime-related titles released on DS, this one really puts a focus on forensics.  You must not only collect evidence, but you must also process and interpret it yourself.  The game promises to utilize the DS to its fullest, as puzzles will have players using the stylus and microphone to help solve various crimes.  In addition to using the stylus to find and analyze clues, you will interview suspects in order to determine who’s guilty.

bakIt seems to me, as someone who never experienced any of these phenomenon first-hand, that slapping a Japanese name + battling + monsters of some kind + toys + video game = Big Success.  The order in which these events may differ, with some starting off with the game and others with the TV show, etc., but in general, kids eat this stuff up.  I’m not trying to take away from games like Pokemon, as I’ve never experienced them myself, the whole phenomenon happening when I was just a little “too old” for that type of thing (or at least, that is how I perceived it at the time).  However, I won’t deny that people love games of this type, and the current cultural phenomenon that is Bakugan seems to be the latest thing, or so I’m told.
