Nippon Ichi is known for its quirky humor, likable characters, and throwing a positive spin on the bad side of the fence. Their protagonists are often devils, demons, or in this case, a witch. She isn’t an evil witch. She’s snarky and cute, like me! And she loves beating up her allies, both verbally and physically, but like most of the NIS protagonists she is decent at the core. Her quest to save the world in A Witch’s Tale, for instance, is noble, isn’t it? The DS is the capital console these days for RPGs, and A Witch’s Tale finds a proper home with stylus and split-screen. It takes a few steps into innovation, keeps a few RPG standards, and presents quite the cohesive package. But just how much is this package worth?Â
