DeathSpank Co-Op and HD Hero Trailers

Ron Gilbert and Hothead Games’ love for old-school gameplay have come together to form the already-exciting action RPG DeathSpank. DeathSpank combines elements of point-and-click adventure and RPG games as well as generous loot mechanics and oddball comedy into something that definitely has not been seen before. Today, Hothead Games released two shiny new HD videos to accompany their title — the first of which is the game’s trailer, and the second of which is glimpse into DeathSpank’s co-operative mode complete with commentary by the game’s producer.

September 19 is a very important day, and one all Monkey Island fans should celebrate: that’s right, it’s International Talk Like A Pirate Day! But is running around all day saying things like “scalawag” not enough? No problem, TellTale and LucasArts has you covered!
I know, I know, us Wii owners always feel like the last kid picked for dodgeball, whether it’s because it sometimes seems like all the good games go play with the big kids (PS3, 360, and PC), or because when they do finally get around to us, everyone else has already had their fun.
Players of the first chapter of Tales of Monkey Island can continue their adventure with the second chapter, titled Siege of Spinner City, on August 20 for the PC. The WiiWare release will follow soon thereafter, although on an unknown date.
Even the most diehard point-and-click adventure fans will admit the heyday of adventure gaming seem to belong past. Still, these games seem to be making a comeback lately, with venues like Nintendo’s DS and Wii opening the door for both ports and new games alike. Particularly making waves recently (sorry for the awful pun), was LucasArts’ recent revelation of Monkey Island: Special Edition, an updated version of the classic, being released July 15 on PC and XBLA. Following on its coattails (or should I say, proceeding it?) on July 7 was Telltale Games’ first installment of the new game Tales of Monkey Island, the first truly new game in the Monkey Island franchise in years.
