Halo-3-ODST-001Last week, reports of Halo 3: ODST disc errors appeared as well as Xbox 360 consoles running into other errors after playing ODST. The 62+ page thread on Bungie’s forums indicates there are quite a lot of people experiencing issues with the game. Eurogamer reports that Microsoft said that “at this point it doesn’t appear to be a widespread issue,” but the company has acknowledged that some people are having some trouble.

For a few of the gamers encountering the disc error, they are finding that the disc errors are popping up in their other games, including downloaded demos (which obviously do not run on disc). Bungie is hard at work trying to find out what the problem is.

systemupdate_netflix_325It seems that the rumblings of Netflix headed to the PlayStation 3 and Wii were untrue. Today’s list of Xbox 360 changes reveals that Netflix Watch Instantly will remained tethered to the 360, although it’s unknown how long this exclusivity will last.

For those unaware, Xbox Live Gold members can stream and watch movies and TV shows right from their console using Netflix, provided that they have a Netflix unlimited plan account. Beyond the Xbox Live Gold and Netflix unlimited plan subscriptions, there is no additional cost. Some titles are unavailable, but most of the Netflix library is available for streaming.

halo2G4’s TheFeed reports that although the current Xbox Live architecture could easily support more than one hundred friends, Halo 2 prevents Microsoft from increasing that limit. Halo 2 cannot support more than one hundred, and well, it seems that people are still playing it online even as Halo 3 has been released for nearly two years with Halo 3: ODST right around the corner.

The post at TheFeed says that it’s unknown exactly when Halo 2 support will be discontinued but thinks that if enough gamers tell Microsoft to abandon Halo 2, it could happen in the near future.

xbox-360-logo4-b-155-3In a recent Microsoft press release, the company stated that they would be putting out a high-quality,wireless Xbox 360 microphone. This microphone will be compatible with previously released music games as well as upcoming releases.

The retail price will be around $50 (U.S.) according to Microsoft. This might be a godsend especially with the new Beatles: Rock Band being released this summer which allows multiple vocalists to perform at once. As a lot of you would agree the best part of this new peripheral release is the removal of wire clutter and confusion which we can all be grateful for. We will be able to see Microsoft’s new wireless microphone this fall on store shelves.

halo3_odst_bonuslgHalo 3: ODST doesn’t come out until September but we already have details on some pre-order goodies and what gamers can expect from the Special Edition bundle. The highly anticipated shooter features a brand new campaign, telling the story of the events leading up to the first Halo from an ODST perspective. The game will also feature a Firefight mode, which is a new cooperative multiplayer game mode. In Firefight you will have to work together to fend off waves and waves of increasingly difficult enemies. To add to the difficulty random skulls will be turned on as rounds are completed.

If that wasn’t enough to entice you to get the new Halo game, Microsoft is offering up some extras for you. Upon pre-ordering the game you will get a code to use Sergeant Avery Junior Johnson in the Firefight mode. Sergeant Johnson is one of most popular characters in the Halo series. Everyone who buys the game will also get a standalone Halo 3 disc with all 24 maps included and a beta key for the recently announced Halo: Reach.

system_error_e74-fullForums have been filled with discussions about the dreaded “new RROD” for Xbox 360 – the infamous E74 error, which equated to a hardware failure as devastating as the Red Ring of Death.  Until recently, if you were unfortunate enough to experience this error, you had to pay for the repair out of pocket.  However, Microsoft finally announced that the E74 failure will be covered by your 3-year warranty.  Even “better” (if you can say that), if you previously paid to have this fixed, you will get reimbursed over the next 4-12 weeks.
