For players (like myself) who have yet to get their fill on Lost Planet 2, Capcom has given us a heads-up on some new multiplayer maps that will be available soon. The first of the two to be released, Dockyard Battle, is set in Episode 4’s battleship factory and will support up to sixteen players. The second is a returning map from the original Lost Planet: Extreme Condition. Known as Frozen Wasteland, this map contains the signature tower and snowy trenches that will surely be familiar to series veterans.

According to an Activision press release yesterday, what’s left of Infinity Ward is releasing a map pack June 3rd on Xbox Live entitled Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Resurgence Pack. There is no price attached as yet, but we can definitely make some assumptions considering how many people threw down their hard earned benjamins for the last pack.  They could probably charge 20 bucks this time and still break records.  I’m placing my bets on jetpacks or some kind of zombie mode.  To herald the map packs insurgence, there will be two double xp weekends starting Friday May 28th and Friday June 4th.

We can probably expect some type of advertising campaign forthcoming.  The press release itself is scant on information, and doesn’t even list a PS3 or PC release for the pack.  We’ll be sure to keep you updated as we get news.  We know how people love “reading” about Modern Warfare 2!

halowars1For those of you who don’t know what Halo Wars is, it’s a console RTS set in the Halo universe. You can take control of up to six characters, three from the UNSC side and three from the Covenant side. For the most part its a rock, paper, scissors game meaning every unit that is built is meant to counter a specific unit.  The biggest draw to this game, other than the cinematic cut scenes, is the multiplayer experience. In an attempt to boost online multiplayer numbers, Ensemble was finally able to release their first map pack, The Historic Battle Map Pack, which includes two 1v1 maps, one 2v2 map and one 3v3 map. The maps bring some life into the game but the real issue is if gamers will shell out 800 Microsoft points for them. Here is the breakdown on the 4 maps released.

killzone_2_map_pack_dlc1Not too long ago Guerrilla Games gave Killzone 2 players their first map pack called Steel and Titanium. The two maps were based off of the levels found in the campaign mode. For their second map pack, Flash and Thunder, they wanted to give Killzone players a blast from the past. The two new maps are remakes of fan favorite maps from the original Killzone on PS2. The remakes of Southern Hills and Beach Head both have interesting environments that lead to the name of the map pack. Flash for the nuclear explosion that hits Southern Hills and Thunder for the severe thunderstorm hitting the Helghan Beach Head.  Both maps were slightly tweaked from their predecessors to coincide with Killzone 2’s gameplay style. How do these remakes hold up to the standards of the current maps? Here’s the breakdown of the two new maps.

killzone2boxartThe critically acclaimed shooter Killzone 2 exclusively for the PS3 got its first map pack earlier this month called the Steel & Titanium map pack. The map pack comes with two maps featuring the Helghast Train and the ISA Vekta Cruiser. Guerilla Games has given us this DLC at a very reasonable price of $5.99 because there are only two maps in the map pack. Since the release of Killzone 2 the online multiplayer has quickly become very popular for PS3 owners, but does this DLC add anything to the already addictive multiplayer experience?
