l4d2_thepassingThe previously announced Left 4 Dead 2 DLC, The Passing, has been given a late March release window for both Xbox 360 and PC versions. In a nutshell if you haven’t already read about it is that it will consist of the new team of survivors (Rochelle, Ellis, Nick and Coach) meeting up with ye olde L4D crew (Zoey, Louis, Bill and Francis) who will be non-playable characters that you meet up with during the campaign. A new uncommon infected will be added to the new campaign as well called the Fallen Survivors. These are those genius rat-bastard humans who thought they were immune to the infection and… weren’t. Valve has mentioned these infected will drop items such as med-packs or ammo.

Everyone knows the old saying – “Two heads are better than one.”  For the most part, it’s true.  Get more people thinking about something, and everyone benefits – you get more and different opinions that might help you shape the way you think about… well, anything.  It’s with this mindset that we go into our Two Brains review, where Tigresa and Snarkasaur have had a meeting of the minds to discuss Left 4 Dead 2 for the both the Xbox 360 and PC.

l4d2I’m kidding. You’re not going to pass on Left 4 Dead 2, are you? Of course not. Especially when its first DLC add-on is set to be released this spring. Dubbed “The Passing,” this add-on episode will take place directly after the “Dead Center” campaign in Left 4 Dead 2. Per the official Valve press release, the Survivors will navigate  a small town in rural Georgia, where they’ll cross paths with the familiar favorite Survivors from the original game: Zoey, Francis, Bill, and Louis.

In addition to the augmented single player, multiplayer, and co-op it will offer, “The Passing” also drags with it a new “uncommon common” class of zombie as well as a brand new co-op mode of play that has not yet been disclosed. It will also be paired with brand new arenas for use in the various multiplayer avenues of the game.

“The Passing will become the most important campaign in the Left 4 Dead story, as all the Survivors are being called together in one campaign,” said Doug Lombardi, VP of marketing at Valve. “It will also be a huge offering of new gameplay content, with something new for every game mode plus a new uncommon common and weaponry.”

This is indeed an interesting move — I’m curious to see how the joining of both crews will play out, as it’s one possibility I never honestly contemplated. How will they react to each other? Will the old Survivors be playable? I suppose as we creep nearer to the launch date, time will tell.

“The Passing” is set for release on the Xbox 360 and PC, but pricing has not yet been announced.

66I love me some Left 4 Dead 2.  After only a night spent in the smoky regions of malls and hotels I can already see myself losing ridiculous amounts of sleep to the zombie infestation, much as I did when the first was released.   I can honestly say I didn’t expect to see DLC quite so soon, however, and if these rumors are to be believed, at the very least Valve has a plan for some.

The rumor comes from a site found in Valve’s domain at simply http://www.midnight-riders.com/.  The art and font are definitely Left 4 Dead in style, and because it’s licensed to Valve, the rumors are at least justfied.  The Midnight Riders themselves are a fictional rock band oft talked about by Ellis, particularly in the “Dark Carnival” campaign where they are featured quite prominently, though I won’t spoil how and where.

Below are your official snarky guesses as to what this site could be referring to:

l4d22I just jumped onto Xbox Live today and did my routine new demo check to surprisingly find that the Left 4 Dead 2 demo has been added for all Xbox Live Gold users! A pre-order downloadable code is no longer required to go barrel-to-face. The demo is co-op and lets you try out The Parish campaign to get a feel for the new melee weapons and characters before you make your ultimate decision to pick up Left 4 Dead 2 this month. Even the boycotters jumped ship after getting a taste of the demo.

I’m looking for recruits to run through the demo with me this week! We MAY just have to roll Expert style. Comment here and add me on Xbox Live if you want to make a run with me, my gamertag is la tigresa xx!

left-4-dead-2-01I don’t have much to say about this leaked trailer for Valve’s imminent Left 4 Dead 2 (Yeah, leaked… Ha, I refuse to believe anything is leaked anymore).  It is the best trailer for a video game I think I’ve ever seen.  It makes me want to play the game right now, and it also makes me want to punch the boycotters in their whiny faces.  Just watch it, if you haven’t already (below).  It’ll rock your socks right off.  November 17th, I want to go to there…

left4dead2_batLeft 4 Dead 2’s looms overhead as it will hits shelves next month on the Xbox 360 and Windows platform. To reel more potential customers into getting the sequel to last year’s hit zombie slaughterfest, Valve will offer early access to the L4D2 demo for anyone that pre-orders via Steam or participating retailers (everyone else gets the demo on the 27th of this month). And of course, buying the game on Steam will net you a 10% discount.

In addition to the early demo access, those who pre-order will get an exclusive in-game American baseball bat. No one knows exactly what this means; is the baseball bat exclusive to pre-order customers or is it just a reskin of the baseball bat we’ve already seen? Well in any case, those are your incentives. Get to buying so that I can incapacitate you we can play together.

rightFor those of you looking to get that final big bang out of the original Left 4 Dead before picking up the sequel, here’s one way to squeeze some more time out of the game (other than going for “Cr0wnd!”). Crash Course, the final installment of DLC for the wildly popular zombocalypse simulator has been released today for the Xbox 360 and Steam.

l4d2Unfortunately for the lot of you Australian gamers out there, Left 4 Dead 2, the upcoming sequel to one of Valve’s biggest smash hits, has been refused classification by the Classification Board. Yes, this should keep the children from getting their grimy little paws on it, and yet prevents responsible adult gamers from making a decision on what kind of media they desire to consume. If it sounds too awful to be true, then break the news to yourself gently via the official report.

l4dAs the poster for the recently announced DLC for Valve’s hit zombie-slayer, Left 4 Dead, proclaims, there is a hard road ahead.  While the revelation of new DLC has raised fans’ spirits (those same fans who had begun to believe the company was leaving them by the wayside as it prepared for the launch of the game’s controversial sequel, Left 4 Dead 2), many of these same fans then wondered: If I shell out my hard-earned cash for “Crash Course” now, will it work when the sequel arrives in just a few short months?

l4d210You might want to hold off ordering your “Left 4 Dead is Dead To Me” t-shirts, folks.  Valve has addressed some of the concerns of L4D fans (including the 40,000+ person boycott) by admitting they are trying to work out a way for players from both games – the original and sequel – to participate in online multiplayer together.  This revelation is the first time Valve has seriously addressed one of the boycotters’ main concerns: That the sequel will split the community, thus decreasing the viability of the games.

Additionally, Valve’s VP of Marketing, Doug Lombardi admitted they are also hoping to allow MODs from the original game to be transferable to the sequel.  Still, he defended Valve’s decision to go for a full-out sequel rather than DLC or additional expansion packs adding on to the original game.

l4d2What was once known to be a glorified Microsoft exclusive, Valve’s hit franchise Left 4 Dead (you’ve heard about the sequel, haven’t you?) may or may not be shelving onto the library of the PS3 this Fall. Today EA, being the publisher of Left 4 Dead, posted up some placeholder pack art for L4D2 for the PS3 on their website filed under both the “Upcoming games” category of their site, as well as on the game information page for L4D.
