A lot of exciting stuff has been coming out of Gamescom, including the new Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep trailer.  Before you sit down to watch it though, be sure that you have refreshments handy because it’s seven minutes long.  The trailer features plenty of glimpses of the gameplay, characters and story.

We stepped into the Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep presentation and were surprised to be face to face with none other than Tetsuya Nomura who was sitting there with an entourage of translators.  Both Stephanie and Dave had assumed that we were in for a demo of the game itself just like all of our previous appointments had been thus far. So when we sat down with Nomura, we flipped out our notebooks and prepared to absorb in any juicy information we could pry about the upcoming PSP Kingdom Hearts title, Birth by Sleep.

Yesterday, Square-Enix announced their batch of exclusive titles that will be coming to the Nintendo 3DS. There are only four working titles for the 3DS as of right now, which includes Chocobo Racing, Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts and Dragon Quest. In regards to the new Kingdom Hearts title, there has been a lot of confusion as to whether the game will be a port of the original PS2 title or a completely new game.

Square-Enix has dropped the curtain on their full line up during E3. A few portables, a few downloadables, and a few more console titles fill their 2010 line up. Earlier though, they had teased of a new Kingdom Hearts promised for this E3, and as my big innocent twinkly anime eyes lit up, I heard the title of the game just today… and my ears suddenly lower, like I got hit on the head with a newspaper by my master. “Bad Tigresa! No, you will never see a real Kingdom Hearts sequel! You greedy, greedy girl!” Here’s how Square-Enix lays out the story of the latest in the Kingdom Hearts franchise (post-Birth By Sleep).

It was pretty much a given that Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep would be hitting North American stores, but today Square Enix confirmed it with both a solid release date and the inclusion of the game into an exclusive bundle package.  First off, the game now has a September 7th release date.  Secondly, the bundle is said to be a “mystic silver” PSP 3000, along with the game obviously, a movie, and a 4 gig memory stick, once again proving how little faith Sony has in the PSP Go.  And in case you’re wondering, mystic silver is the same silver as every other silver PSP.

new-york-anime-festivalJust this past weekend I headed out to NYAF (New York Anime Fest) at the Javits Center in NYC. I snapped some shots of cosplayers (myself not included here ’cause I’m shy) all around the convention center, supported my local artists by nabbing their artistic swag to plaster on my walls and sat quietly through the masquerade as cosplayers showcased their epic (questionable…) talents. Although it was not a gaming convention, the anime and video game culture are so closely linked that an abundance of video game characters were able to make it to the show. Check out some snapshots of a few video game cosplayers I peeped below! Chrono Cross…!

khdays_event01Square-Enix exploded onto the Nintendo DS scene yesterday with the first Kingdom Hearts title developed solely for the DS, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. 358/2 is possibly the only multiplayer-integrated action role playing game on the portable console, and promises to deliver more of the action that fans of Kingdom Hearts are looking for. Check after the cut for some of the detailed features and screenshots from the game.

sephiSquare-Enix remembers their fans outside of Japan less often then we’d like. I just got word that they remembered that we are just as obsessive a bunch as their motherland’s fans. They have announced a set of full-color, intricately detailed PVC figures making their way to Square-Enix’s USA store. Normally I would just glaze over this as a collection of incoming overpriced paperweights to pretty up my desk space, but they are overwhelmingly gorgeous figures of some of their headline characters from Final Fantasy’s Sephiroth, Kingdom Hearts‘ Sora (in his Halloweentown getup!) and even Edward and Alphonse from the hit anime and manga series Fullmetal Alchemist. Hit the jump for screenshots of some of the announced figures to hit the e-shelves of Square-Enix this week! Word on the streets says they might even be affordable, too. So how much do you think these figures are worth?
