image of Resident Evil 6 News Coming Soon

Capcom’s Keiji Inafune reportedly told 3DJuegos that Resident Evil 6 news would arrive soon. According to rockman zx’s (machine) translation of what was said in 3DJuegos’ interview, Inafune said, “Given the great success that supposed for us Resident Evil 5, we want that Resident Evil 6 leaves as rapidly as possible to the market. In fact, you will shortly have the news of Capcom about this…” I suppose that means Capcom was pleased with Resident Evil 5 sales and wants to get the series’ sixth title (well, excluding Code: Veronica and those online PS2 titles) out the door. Stay tuned for more details on this franchise reboot.

Dead Rising 2 will be hitting US shelves on September 28th, but I recently dug through a bunch of goodies regarding its release and discovered a YouTuber’s gameplay video allotting us fifteen whole minutes worth of cutscenes from the beginning of DR2. The events taking place are a bit confusing, but we’re able to see protagonist Chuck Greene and his young daughter Katey. Apparently, they have a gruesome connection or memory of Dead Rising’s fictional town of Willamette, Colorado. A  humorous poster advertising an infection suppressing drug called “Zombrex” can be seen adoring the elevator, a medication Katey is supposedly taking after being bitten during her first run-in with the undead.

Hand a white man a gun and put him in Africa and he’s a racist. Hand an African-American woman a gun and put her in Africa and… wait, what? Was all that noise just “good measure” for distraction, Capcom? We’re, of course, talking about Sheva Alomar and Chris Redfield. Resident Evil 5 had people discussing more pressing social issues over Umbrella, zombies, and the impractical size of Chris’ biceps—particularly racism. After the kerfuffle, Capcom played innocent, issuing a statement that read “We can’t please everyone. We’re in the entertainment business – we’re not here to state our political opinion or anything like that. It’s unfortunate that some people felt that way.” This time, it’s apparently unacceptable and Melody Pfeiffer, Senior PR Manager, is laying down the law to please the …sensitive “West?”

This one is a shorty but goody as Gamescom announced both Viewtiful Joe and Dormammu will arrive on Marvel vs. Capcom 3 in fighting spirit. In case some people may still be unaware, Fate of Two Worlds will somehow manage to tie into a coherent storyline, unlike previous installments. Popular choices like Chris Redfield and Chun-Li can be seen aiding Joe against Deadpool, the Hulk and Wolverine. Might I add MvC3 is looking fairly amazing thus far and here are three, new videos sure to reinforce this statement and set your skull ablaze. On a side note, If you’re wondering why Capcom decided to include Dormammu in MvC3 instead of everyone’s favorite defense attorney, Phoenix Wright, many people are calling “OBJECTION!” on Capcom-Unity and so can you!

In case any of you haven’t heard the big news by now, Capcom and Namco Bandai are planning on releasing two new fighting games, bringing together Tekken and Street Fighter in what seems to be one of the most exciting crossovers in the history of the genre. The already-hyped game isn’t set to release until at least 2012, but there was some gameplay footage for Capcom’s Street Fighter X Tekken that was shown at Comic-Con this year. The footage features none other than the stars of Street Fighter and Tekken –Ryu and Kazuya. (more…)

Attendees of the “Street Fighter Mania!: SSFIV and Beyond” panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday got a huge surprise when Capcom’s Yoshinori Ono revealed not only Capcom’s development of Street Fighter X Tekken, but also announced the development of Tekken X Street Fighter by Namco Bandai. The crossover games feature characters from both series and use different engines respectively.

Is releasing two critically bashed Street Fighter films enough to stop a determined gaming company from releasing more? Apparently not. It’s time for round three. According to Capcom, there will be further adaptations of their Street Fighter series hitting the big screen in the future.Despite two failed attempts already, Capcom still seems optimistic in regards to their Street Fighter film franchise. While wandering aimlessly around Capcom’s lush inner sanctum at E3, my eye happened to fall on a cute, little wolf portrait nestled near the back, behind all the flashy Marvel vs Capcom 3 and Dead Rising 2 showcases. It was for ĹŚkamiden. It’s been a few years since I played the Wii version of ĹŚkami where the art style, the mechanics, the Japanese lore-infused story were all perfect to me in their separate ways.  I’m sure I’ll eventually return to the delicate lines and thrumming stringed music of Okami on the Wii, but thankfully now I’ll have a choice of playing it on a smaller screen when ĹŚkamiden hits North American shores.

The latest game from the creative genius Shu Takumi of the Ace Attorney series is called Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective, a mystery title which is something that he has been wanting to create for a very long time now, but what took so much time was crafting just the right style of animation fitting to the story – which is fittingly put, gorgeous. Ghost Trick has the quirky antics and wild humor that Ace Attorney fans are familiar with and love. The story of Ghost Trick takes place over a span of 24 hours in which you must solve the mystery of why you, Sissel, were killed while you possess various objects like giant wrecking balls or… doughnuts in the process of solving the massive mystery.

Spawn Kill Favorites: Resident Evil 2

Posted by WITA on June 12th, 2010

When it comes to horror video games, Resident Evil tops the chart, nails the head shots, and splatters the screen with blood and gore. Although the popular series changed its mainstream viral formula with the “action horror” award-winner Resident Evil 4, fans still consider the second game a hot favorite. Leon S. Kennedy may be a teenage girl’s knight in zombie gut-stained armor now, but he wasn’t always such a looker who rolled with Umbrella’s punches as slickly as the bad puns and bingo jokes. Once upon a time in Raccoon City, he was a rookie cop whose first day on the job ended in city-wide decimation. He slogged through grimy sewers, followed a corporation’s blood trail, befriended Redfield’s sister … and fell for one dangerous lady in red.

For players (like myself) who have yet to get their fill on Lost Planet 2, Capcom has given us a heads-up on some new multiplayer maps that will be available soon. The first of the two to be released, Dockyard Battle, is set in Episode 4’s battleship factory and will support up to sixteen players. The second is a returning map from the original Lost Planet: Extreme Condition. Known as Frozen Wasteland, this map contains the signature tower and snowy trenches that will surely be familiar to series veterans.

Review: Lost Planet 2

Posted by Kevin "K-Tuck" Tucker on May 20th, 2010

As far as I can tell, there isn’t a cooperative experience similar to Lost Planet 2 anywhere out in the game market today. The action is tremendous, the foes numerous and oftentimes humongous, and the entire package is wrapped up in a world and visual aesthetic all its own. One of the pervading elements of Lost Planet 2 is scale, and while it can sometimes be harrowing, the feel of the gameplay is that of something that is just barely inside the realm of possibility.

Lost Planet 2 Swag Giveaway! [Ended]

Posted by Spawn Kill on May 16th, 2010

Want to win a sweet Lost Planet 2 swag package right here at Spawn Kill? All you have to do is tell us your biggest kill of all time, in or out of a video game.  As an example, one time I was shark hunting in the middle of the Pacific ocean when I killed a blue whale. I then swam its corpse to a local Japanese village and they had food and heat for nearly a decade. I was labeled a hero and to this day there stands a statue of me in their town center. Obviously, true story. Feel free to be as epic in the telling as you like. We’ll pick five people at random or five people who know how to spin a yarn and give them a nice little package full of Capcom goodies, including a t-shirt, a water bottle, and Kill Big poster. Check them out below for visual details.

So get crackin’!  The contest ends on midnight of next Saturday!
